Bad fight for Toney. Jones-Toney is a good indication here however Joe throws more punches than Jones.

Toney was an EXCELLENT fighter but Calzaghe is no good for him. His fights against Griffin show that with a good game plan he can be beaten.

Not an easy, but not a terribly tough UD for Joe.

I take Joe Calzaghe by UD in a close fight. Toney lost to Thadzi who had eight losses when he fought Toney. The Griffin losses are generally regarded as robberies, but losing to someone like Thadzi is just something that would never happen to Joe. RJJ beat Toney with speed, while he is even faster than Calzaghe, Joe is more relentless and he wouldn't need to beat Toney as clearly as RJJ did in order to win. Also, RJJ was contect to cruise to victory, he gave Toney many breathers in the fight. Joe fights every half - minute of every round.

Toney's counterpunching style is based on opponents throwing 1 - 3 punches max, which normal fighters do. Joe is anything but normal in his flurries, he throws 5 - 10 punches, even if he misses a lot against a defensive wizzard like Toney, he still confuses his opponent and forces his style and gameplan on him.

At 168 Toney may have been a bit drained (unless we're talking the young, 22 year old Toney), so Toney by SD. At 175 I would say Toney by UD 12, Joe possibly hitting the deck.

I can hear the crowd chant now

  5. Toney is a fat over-rated steriod junkie, Calzaghe would out work him, and win a UD, he's fast, accurate, intelligent and has the chin to take Toney's shots, Toney lost to Montell Griffin twice, and Drake Thazidi for christ sakes, JC WOULD NEVER LOSE TO THOSE SORRY FIGHTERS:deal
Hopefully we have seen the last of Garbage mouth Toney as a serios contender, Sam Peter took care of that:deal

Do yourself a favour, go watch some of his fights, I recommend Barkley, Williams or Jirov, believe me you'll become a fan too..

Stupid post, not even funny. Since when you've been following boxing? 2006?? You'll be the only one chanting...

Write something intelligent here in the future, not childish gibberish like that.

    Calzaghe UD.

Toney is troubled by speed. Calzaghe has very good speed of hand and foot. He also has a very high work rate which would help him win rounds.

Toney's defence is undeniably better than Calzaghe's.
Toney's counter punches will be very effective against Joe because of his high output. He really leaves himself open. Toney by late TKO.

He only leaves himself open when he knows/thinks he can. look at fights where he boxed more cadgyly. Joe also has great reflex's.
