At welter and in prime for both parties, how do you all think Whitaker v. Mayweather would have turned out?

Better to make this at 135 IMO, since 147 wasn't either fighter's prime weight.

In any case, I would take Whitaker. At 147, I believe the fight is a bit closer than at 135.

    I've always thought Whitaker 7-5.

Whitaker UD 9-3 at any weight. Although at the lower weights i could be closer I think.

Mayweather for me by SD - he is seriously under-rated by many on here. Just because he is an arsehole doesn't take anything away from his ability as a fighter.

Again? Whitaker UD something between 9-3 and 7-5 in rounds.

And than you have tools such as Fitzgerald who overrate the hell out of him by picking him over the likes of Leonard and Hearns

It'd be a very tactical fight with probably 2 punches being landed all night.

I'll probably get some slack for this, but I'll go for a close Mayweather UD due to his height and reach advantages and (by the looks of it) more powerful punches.

Whitaker holds certain stylistic advantages over Mayweather, and matches Mayweather's strengths. So how does Floyd win?

I agree on tactical. Both guys would get frustrated before long, who would have the mental edge to fight through it? I don't know if Mayweather's ever had a really low connect rate, so I guess we wouldn't know how he'd handle it. I think I'd take Whitaker though either way, but very close.

    I don't see why the **** not!!

Basically, Floyd has been in with pretty much everyone (Mosley, Cotto excepted) and has emerged without a mark on him on every occasion.

It takes an exceptional fighter to do that :deal

The worst fighter that either Whitaker or Mayweather could ever face would be Tommy Hearns. Whitaker IMO is the greater fighter, but Hearns would beat him H2H because it's a horrible style matchup due to Hearns great skill, power, and most of all size. He would beat both Mayweather and Whitaker.
