Prime wlad vs fury

Fury vs wlad is quite a difficult match up.
Imo the first fight would always end like the first result, wlad couldn't adapt and was quite surprise.
In a rematch wlad would know what to do, but fury would also change his gameplan. I see it like first fight always fury, second fight its imo a 60-40 for wlad.
Fury is a specimen and very awkward talent who will be difficult for a lot of guys. Fury would never fight wlad as he fought wilder in the second fight, cause wlad is technically just too good.
It would be always a chess match but honestly wlad is mentally stronger than fury.
Just look how incredible proud fury is over the wlad win. That was his milestone and imo the only fight where he was not sure that he would win.

 

Tyson Fury is a difficult matchup even for prime Wlad. I'm not saying Fury automatically wins, I'm saying his size, height, movement and use of angles presents problems for Klitschko anytime.

The Fury of 2020 we saw against Wilder does likely beat even prime Wlad, yes.

 

I agree with this.

I personally think that Fury beating Wlad was his Andy Ruiz moment. We've all seen the champion have an off night where the contender gears himself up to do or die. Tha champ loses and then starches the upstart in the rematch.

Why?

Because they've just climbed Everest.

The mental focus to do it again is gone. We all saw Andy turn into a blob of fat after beating AJ. Fury fell apart as well. He was eating his way through every pie in Britain, drunk on victory, and he would 100% have gotten smashed in the rematch because his head wasn't in it and Wlad's head was. You could see Klitschko was pissed.

That's why I pick a focused Wlad over Fury. He was just much, much more consistent.

Wlad couldn’t deal with Tyson’s style, size or supreme confidence.

 

I think the issue was more psychological than physical.

I don’t think a prime version of Wlad would have let his hands go.

 

Wlad isn’t mentally stronger than Tyson.

 

I don’t think Wlad had an off night.

He just couldn’t deal with Fury as a fighter or as a person.

Wlad tries to intimidate all of his peers and is a control freak which Fury touched on in their interviews.

"He kept staring at me and I asked him if he had a problem and he quickly shuttled away"

Fury also beat him in Wlad's own sauna championships which he denies was a competition when it was

Emmanual Steward then stated in a 2012 interview that Fury was the toughest of all the men he had worked with at heavyweight mentally including Wlad.

 

Pity Fury ducked the rematch then.

What, it was staged, because he feared a guy who he’d already psyched out and beaten in Germany?

His life spiralled out of control.

He literally nearly killed himself on booze and drugs.

He’d already psyched Wlad out and beaten him in Germany.

The man is literally mentally ill.

He had over 3 years out of the ring.

He collapsed mentally when he realised he was going to have to face Wlad again, only this time it was obvious that Klitschko was pissed off and fired up. The same as Fury "saw something" in the 12th against Wilder, Wlad likewise opened up the taps in the 12th of their fight and realised how to beat Fury.

It's not the first time Fury does this. Didn't he slip out the back door for Ustinov as well? And Price too if memory serves.
