You do realize that Tyson pretty much white washed those two fighters over 24 rounds...............they were never in the fight and if they would have opened up Bonecrusher for sure would have been stopped.

WK was ko'ed by absolute Palookas, full stop..................you dont go life and death with a unskilled caveman named Sam Peter or run a complete track meet vs the Heavyweight fraud of the decade ,David "Big Toe" Haye and believe you have a shot vs Tyson.

WK stunk the joint out so bad that HBO refused to feature him in the US.

Peek vs Peek Tyson starches Wk and the same goes for his arm punching brother.

The K brothers were class outside of the Ring, disciplined and always in shape , had longevity but are known more ffor their losses than wins

I am rarely suprised by a poll here-don't recall the last time I was.
But Tyson favored, & SO heavily, does come as a bit of a shock.

I'd be pulling for Tyson, avid vs. Goliath, especially since Wlad got away with so much clinching.
But that in itself would make it very hard to win-unless you specified a rigorously fair ref.

But some of the rationales favoring Tyson seem like wishful thinking.
You cannot fairly take a pre-prime version-also overstating how bad these opponents were-& rationalize "if they beat Wlad, Tyson would do so".
What if we took a bordeline prime Tyson vs. a lost 3 of the last 4 fights Tillis?
Or when he was supposed to be absokutely peak, losing to Douglas?

You have to take the very best version of a fighter, which was for a long while after Wlad had fairly early losses.
The size difference would be difficult.
Very different fighters, I do not see a major stylistic advantage either way...
But for Tyson to get inside & do damage is hard.

And the officating could be everything here.

Wlad might box well for a bit and frustrate Tyson using his clinching style, long jab and serious right hand, but at some point Tyson will connect and then it’s blood in the water for Tyson who was a shark as a finisher. Wlad can’t withstand the all out Tyson attack. Wlad hits the panic button most often when hurt and then it’s curtains, in my opinion. Tyson ko6.

Christ we actually agree on something. The amount of focus Tyson cops for going 12 with Bonecrusher and Tucker is incredible really. It's as if he went life and death with them when in fact he whooped both by huge margins. The average fan card in EOTR gave Tucker 2 rounds and Crusher not a single round. In all seriousness how many people would have beaten them by those margins?

Sure there's a chance Wlad might be able to fight negative and tie him up a lot but he'd get well behind on the cards.

Even that Wlad will start abusing the clinch more than he did against Povetkin, he'll be rolling on the canvas having his mind in another dimension in 2 rounds. He won't be able to deal the speed and the power of Mike.

Wlad was better than Bonecrusher and Tucker, had heavier artillery and was far more accomplished. You don't think there's even a chance that he might neutralise Tyson as they did and then go one better?

Wlad went unbeaten for eleven years, that's longer than some careers, against opponents who had some 600 wins between them, barely losing a round and KO'ing almost all of them. It's fine if you think Tyson would win, he has a great chance, but it's ridiculous to act like one of the most successful heavies ever, who also happens to possess the size, style and attributes to trouble Tyson, has no chance.

It actually could go this way! But i see it like this: Tyson is just too quick, too explosive for robotic Wlad. Tyson will cut the ring very fast, lightning fast shifts and he will hit Wlad with some bombs from angles he wouldn't even guess. Once Wlad is hurt, Tyson will finish him just like Bruno! (Didn't they described it like: "A Lion against a Zebra" ?)

    This says it perfectly.
I really never saw the forum so biased & unbalanced in its collective assessments.
I was not a big fan of Wlad, critiqued all the clinch-kos he got away with, but given his absolutely Top Flight overall skills, size, the match up stylistically, & huge size advantage, it is absurd to assume even with neutral offciating that Tyson would surely dominate.

I'd be rooting for him, but most of youse guys are letting your heart cuckold your braiaiaian here! :nut:

If Wlad could avoid power punches for the first 6 rounds, throw and connect plenty of jabs then he could have got Tyson frustrated enough to beat him. Tyson didn't like a glove constantly in his face, he needed to get in and unleash the power, the uppercut that seemed to come from his feet up, incredible delivery. Hard call, probably go with Tyson before 6, after that could go either way.

Prime-for-Prime, Tyson is the clear favorite.

Wlad certainly had the tools to defend against a Tyson onslaught - just not over a sustained period. It would not be long before the incessant pressure from Tyson would break through, bring about the unraveling of Wlad and the end for him, soon after.

Wlad simply didn't operate in the class of Tyson and, quite oppositely, presided over an extremely poor division, which afforded him a fair bit of latitude in his ledger-building, over time.

Ref matters a lot here. If they draw a ref who lets Wlad clinch to his heart's delight, he jabs/grabs/hugs Tyson to exhaustion by mid-fight and then starts to pick him apart. Wlad by KO.

A ref who stops clinches quickly? Wlad is too chinny. Tyson by early and brutal KO.

All of this assumes an absolute peak Tyson. A diminished Tyson? Wlad doesn't need to clinch to win that and the fight looks like Tyson's fight with Lewis did.

I'm not a huge fan of Wlad, always found him boring, but it's hard to argue with a great jab and a big booming right hand.

I agree. I'd favor Tyson but Wlad is a live underdog imo.
