Primes: Hagler versus Pavlik?

Kelly has a great chin, but he isnt even in his prime yet, or if he is, he has just entered it with his wins over miranda and taylor. We have much more to see from this dominant middleweight champion.

:deal Good post Keihule. These guys need to Give the guy a chance!!FFS. He just won his first title, is 25 years old, and by damn he's gonna get even better over the next couple of years.

Also, I don't see where all the discredit for Taylor comes from and it is not deserved. Some HATE him for "HBO Gift Decisions", but do you think that is Taylor's fault or HBO's?? The only fight Taylor can deservedly take **** for is Spinks (I don't know what the hell was wrong with JT that night!!), Ouma couldn't be KO'd with a sledge hammer, and Hops and Wright need no explanation for no KO there. IMO, saying Taylor has no power is ******ed, and it's just another way for haters to discredit Pavlik for getting caught. I'm sure there are very few fighters in the whole history of the sport that didn't get knocked down once or twice. What matters is did they get back up and KTFO the person that did it to them.

He lost to BOWE who isnt even comparable to VLAD as far a boxing skills go and he got koed by BOWE he didnt punch nearly as hard as VLAD ! HOLY would never beat VLAD ! Like it or not ! HOLY needed all twelve rounds to beat a couple of grandfathers for **** ssake ! atsch

 

I havent read any other replies on this thread, dont need to, Hagler absolutely murders Pavlik.

 

Hagler wouldn't knock Pavlik out easily. A competitive fight in which Hagler stops Pavlik late.

Yeah, I was going to say that, but Pavlik's bigger than Mugabi, and Hagler as well for that matter. I also believe Pavlik hits harder than Mugabi, but that does't mean a jot as Hagler's chin is made of steel.

Let's see what happens in the Taylor rematch before we dismiss Pavlik.

I got huge respect for both men, but clearly at this point, Hagler accomplished far more, too early for this projection IMO.

I reserve the right to change my pick if Pavlik continues being champion and impressing but Hagler had more dimensions and a mindset that never folded:nono I think the Hagler that fought Hearns would have won by KO in say maybe the 9nth or 10th? It would have been so spectacular that of course, there would have to be a rematch! Pavlik would reverse it there!!If we could all beso lucky to witness that trilogy.

Great fighters who fought to impose. Pavlik has superior size and may develop even more. I cant choose him over Hagler at this point though, just too early.

 

I'd take a prime Hagler to dispose of Pavlik more convincingly than the Hagler of the Hearns fight, considering that was no prime Hagler.

 

I dont see any other conclusion either. But? Pavliks young and just starting his Championship campaign. If he continues to progress(in the land of if's) Perhaps in wins a reamtch?

 

I don't see how. Pavlik was not a better boxer than a prime Hagler, and there is about a 1/1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 chance he stops Hagler(unless it's on a cut), so nah, you needed to be a master boxer/mover, or else have another big advantage, to beat a prime Hagler.

 

This would be an awesome fight. An easy easy choice though imo. Pavlik would need to ko Hagler in order to win this fight, which wouldn't happen. Hagler would box Pavliks ears off and wear him out for a late round ko. Hagler didn't have extreme power so he would slowly wear down Pavlik and get the 10th round ko. Thats my official prediction
