Just to add... if you notice.. Most tall fighters end up looking like they have weak chins. Examples... Hearns, Lewis, Wlad, ect... because it is HARD to hide being buzzed by a punch when you are that tall. You look awkward, and you have a guy underneathe you. Also, the punches are coming up, right under your chin... which causes more damage than the smaller guys who can just turtle up and absorb the shots coming down on them. Examples, Tua, Tyson, Toney ect... If they are buzzed, they can go into a little shell. It's hard to get up underneath, and after their chin. Where, the tall guys have no place to hide.
I dont care that ill get flamed, i think wlad stands a great shot at KO'ing Lewis, if not winning a UD. I dont really wanna type it all out, but wlad is being grossly underestimated.... and people are being dumb about the matchup. Lewis, as great as he is.... is not brewster, does not have brewsters durability. he is not sanders, and will not have that southpaw, fast straight left cross.... just because wlad lost to them, doesnt mean he loses to lewis. as weird as that may seem. Wlad by Stoppage or decision
Thats fine, but how do explain Wlad being rocked by a Brewster jab in the 3rd round, he was obviously rocked and Jones pointed it out during the telecast. Also during the same fight, Jones said something along the lines of "Brewster needs to keep going to the body", Merchant replied back with " Why Roy, Wlad doesnt have a glass body, he has a glass chin". When you said Wlad took the same hook, Williams took and didnt even blink, I hope you were joking, because the one I remember him hitting him with was far from flush, like most punches Peter landed that night. Another thing I would like to touch on, you claim 2 of the knockdowns were from punches on the back of the head, which is fine, but why these occured are just as much Wlads fault as they are Peters. In a fight you are explained the rules before hand in the dressing room, when Wlad was hurt he turned his back and put his head to avoid punches, which is illegal and you can be warned for, and quite possibly given a standing 8 if you look like you were going down or in extreme trouble, which Wlad did look to be in when he was having a panic attack clinching on to Peter for dear life, to where Peter pushed him off and pounded him to the ground, accidently hitting him behind the head when Wlad put his head down to avoid the punch. I'm not saying Wlads a ***** or a *****, but it's obvious to most viewers, his chin is still a concern of his, and when hit he sometimes goes into a panic attack like he did with Brewster, Peter, and Sanders, which leads me to believe he's mentally afraid of getting hit.
You didn't debunk anything except in your own mind...I know it's all about opinions and all that but your post on Lewis at 31 and WALD at 31 was lets just say a little bit lopsided. You said WALD was unified at 31 and Lewis wasn't....well he's got 2 belts, one of which is the meaningless WBO belt which Lewis never even bothered fighting for. Lewis lost to McCall and was kept out in the cold by King for around 3 years before getting the rematch, not his fault. Lewis was ducked his entire career by Tyson, Bowe and Holyfield and Foreman publicly stated he wouldn't get in the ring with Lewis for fear of getting his head taken off, is any of that Lewis's fault? Lewis fought on even terms through 12 rounds with Mercer....in your opinion again....people who watched the fight objectively knew Lewis deserved the decision. The whole point about Lewis not dominating all his opponents is that the heavyweight division didn't stink back then, and it does now according to everyone but the Klitschko fans. Time will prove one school of thought right or wrong, I think I'm in the right but can't prove it....yet :hey As for Lewis barely escaping his fight with VITLAY.....well anyone with a rational mind would take a look at their faces after the bout and say that only one man 'escaped' in that fight - and that was the worst version of Lennox Lewis to ever step into a ring with the possible exception of the first Rahman fight. Despite that he did all that damage to the better brother. I'd bet my life had it been WALD in the ring that night he wouldn't have gone past that 3rd round. Prime Lewis he wouldn't get out of the first.
I'm not flaming here but comparing prime Lewis to Sanders and Brewster as though he couldn't do what they did is pretty naive to say the least. Lewis wouldn't need Brewsters durability as he wouldn't eat punches the whole fight. Lewis had a couple of close ones in his career but I can't recall him ever getting comprehensively ********* by anyone. He beat Bruno and VITLAY when behind on the cards and that's about the only fights I can remember where he was behind. Don't forget his competition level was WAY higher than WALDS too.
Fair post, and explains perfectly why he'd lose to Lewis - Lewis ate those timid types for breakfast. A jab will not keep an aggresive Lewis off - Golota will testify to that, and coming out winging big shots won't work either as Grant and Tyson proved.
Well, first off... your quotes are a bit off.. they were not in the context that you put them. Now, to answer the questions. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
Comparing Wlad to Golota doesn't even make sense. You say that a jab wouldn't hold an aggressive Lewis off. Well, a right hand certainly would... check Lewis vs McCall I.
Thanks for the big lettered, multi-colored post, it helped me read your post a little better. I understand it was a Brewster left, but the hook is his powerful punch, not the straight left, which looked to have only a little power behind it. You also stated in your post, after the Sanders and Brewster fight, Wlad learned to deal with the pressure, I disagree, Peter was the only fighter to pressure Wlad since Brewster, and he looked pretty bad in winning that one, he was constantly getting rocked, and panicking at times, to me it just proves Wlad does still have problems when pressured. I will be the first to admit, Wlad's skills are top notch, ATG even, but his mental strength is far from elite, our opinions certainly differ on that. I just want to know why Wlad panics so much, and why he has that horrified face whenever a big punch almost lands on him, you think by now he would of gotten over the fear of being hit.
Lewis got up from that shot, and it was a ridiculous stoppage. It wasn't prime Lewis either. Dragging up that loss is like dragging up the Purrity loss, it means nothing apart from childish point scoring. The only difference is with Lewis it was a world title shot, WALD lost to a bum in a meaningless fight.
I disagree. Wlad was only actually hurt once by Peter and that was int he 10th, and it started with a shot behind the head. Wlad, dealt with it... handled the pressure, and went back to boxing Peter's ears off. He didn't collapse, and he didn't have a melt down. He got his ass off of the canvas, pulled himself together and dominated the last two rounds. You know... it's funny that most fighters get credit, and major props for pulling themselves off of the canvas to win a fight. Wlad gets bashed for it.
He panics because his chin is glass, it really is as simple as that. The Klit fans can make excuse after excuse after excuse but no elite heavyweight has ever visited the canvas as often as WALD. When you consider the crap opponents that have levelled him then you get an even clearer picture regarding WALDS punch resistance. Smoke, mirrors and spin about back of the head punches/CIA/Little green men/FBI/Poisoning will never change any of that. I suspect WALD has been KO'd in sparring regularly, I can't think of a more rational explanation to him panicking so much when under attack in a fight. The interesting thing is that the only really big puncher he's ever defeated is PETERS. I can't recall a single other dangerous puncher the man has faced and defeated :huh
Delusional as ever. Maybe if WALD hadn't been down as often as he has he'd get credit for peeling himself from the canvas. The problem there is that the rabid Klitschko huggers all turn out in force to point out that the knock-down wasn't genuine, so either WALD has a glass jaw but a massive heart because he keeps getting up to win, or WALD has stamina/poisoning issues which need to be investigated, which is it :huh Take a look at that Holmes V Shavers fight when you get chance, there's a fighter that deserves credit for getting up off the canvas to win, and a fighter who's chin can't be questioned. BIG difference between that kind of resilience and the resilience that WALD showed against Peter.
Lewis was 29 years old when he was knocked out by McCall. That's two years older than Wlad was when he lost to Brewster. (Wlad's last loss) So.. if you don't want to count Lewis' loss at 29, you can't count Wlad's loss at 27, 26, or 22. As it must not have been Wlad's prime either. Also... that was a clean stoppage to me. Lewis was falling into the ref as the ref reached the count of ten. How on earth could ref not stop the fight? Just move to the side and let Lewis fall into the action?
