From film it appears that Carnera could throw a decent jab and it appears, against Louis and Baer, he had durability-if not a defence. So...
Jabs don't count against Fields. Fields goes through jabs like a knife through butter. Carnera was no boxer. Fields floors him early about four times until the ref stops the slaughtering.
If you think that Carnera couldn't box then you need to watch more footage of him. It comes down to this at the end of the day: While the quality of the top three heavyweight in two seperate eras can varry considerably, the quality of the lower half of the top ten is generaly prety constant between era's. You might find an era where Paulino Uzcdun or Eddie Chambers would not crack the top 3 in the Ring Magazine Rankings but you would not find an era in which either of them would not crack the top 8. By the same token you are never going to find an era where Tye Fields becomes a world beater.
KTFO STILL one of the worst posters I've ever seen. Dickhead. One of the worst threads ever as well to be honest, I've seen footage of both. Fields would not have survived the overhand right that Baer poleaxed Carnera with, nor the constant knockdowns and supposed broken ankle Carnera would suffer from there on in. Sharkey had a better chin than Fields. Carner might find it hard to punch up, but I'm sure he'll clobber Fields with something and put him away, probably within three rounds. Carnera at least fought some of the most dangerous Heavyweights ever. Fields is a joke.
fleaman, just admit you confused a hen-party board with a boxing board. You are wrong here sista. Fields may be a joke, but so was Carnera. Carnera had no skills of a boxer, but no skills of a slugger either. He was big and heavy, that's it.
i like how you say he "goes through jabs like a knife through butter" like the guy walking into jabs is the aggressor...lol....your a puts...and the point is..the jabs would set up other punches too.
:rofl More than anyone else here.... Carnera setting up effective combos?! You're a real stand-up comedian bro.
Carnera, while accused of having his fights fixed was more talented than Fields, which says more about Fields than Carnera.
It's supercool, Tmax, that your first post on this board is dedicated to this great thread. Would you be so kind and post all of your input for this super-dooper simulator? Thanks in advance.
well im fine with the argument that modern fighters are better because of XY and Z, I was just curious to see if anyone would make that argument for Ty over Primo.
