You should instead make a thread about how impressive it was for the vastly outweighed....much, much smaller Tommy Loughran to go 15 rounds..do as good as he did in the early going and never hit the deck against the giant who ko'ed Jack Sharkey. You got it backwards.
You have no clue what you're talking about. First you say you're not aware of any Loughran opponents over 200 pounds, then you claim to be familiar enough of them to know how they compare to other fighters. :roll: You're just making blind guesses.
Baer actually had bigger arms than Carnera. Baer had a pretty big frame but was lean, his legs were very thin as well. Anyway, Baer was a legit HW.
I think I read Loughran sustained a broken toe from Primo's big tootsies treading on him ,I don't believe Tommy said that stopped him from" pushing off ",with that foot.
I think the under 200lb fighters were more of a natural weight than the guys in the lower-end of the heavyweight brackets today. I think weight training took everything out of its natural order...a fighter like Loughran today with his skill level would still beat a lot of the big fella but that animal does not exist today
