I like Breazeale because he’s a local boy and he spent a lot of time at my old gym the fight factory early in his career, but Breazeale is the perfect type of opponent for Carnera. Breazeale’s big, easy to hit, and not very experienced, so Carnera would knock him out in a couple of rounds. My old roommate Sergio Nunez offered to train Breazeale back in 2013 and I think he would’ve done wonders for Breazeale, but Breazeale knew Sergio was a lot more strict than Manny and passed on it.
Carnera didnt have the power to stop Breazeale ,his only winning option it to box behind the jab.Over 15rds I think Breazeale tags him and puts him out.Breazeale has a good chin, is as big as Carnera ,and hits a damn sight harder.
I can see Dominic chinning Carnera easily. I've no faith in Primo whiskers against an hard hitting fella like this. Carnera gets dropped repeatedly before the refs had enough imo.
Breazeale would KO him late rounds. It would be an ugly fight. Breazeale isnt even world level trust me he sucks but he has a better chin as he ate up punishment from Anthony Joshua before finally going down and showed a lot of heart in the fight. He did get destroyed by Wilder but are people going to sit here and tell me Carnera would eat a right hand from Wilder ? And of course the classic buddies are gonna attack me because i dont praise old school fighters and hate modern fighters. Im not a nostalgic clown i see it through an objective point of view. Someone like Frazier or Liston would absolutely tear Breazeale up because he's a punching bag for skilled fighters but someone like Carnera mainly used his size and reach and nothing else.
Carnera had plenty of power and when he was able to connect flush on guys he hurt them or knocked them out, since most of the guys that were of similar size to Carnera he knocked out, but many of the best guys Carnera was fighting weren’t exactly easy to land on and were very experienced. Larry Gains, Loughran, Uzcudun, King Levinsky, and Pierre Charles were just a couple of guys that were very experienced and slippery. Also, Carnera had over 80 fights before he was ever stopped, so Carnera could take a punch, but after the ankle injury in the Baer fight his mobility and durability were never the same. As for Breazeale he can punch, but he’s also slow, he doesn’t pace himself well, and it’s very debatable if he can punch harder than Carnera, since Carnera consistently fought much better competition than Breazeale. I also doubt Breazeale, who hasn’t even been 12 rounds in his career would be very effective over 15.
I think Primo probably win. Probably decision, maybe late stoppage. Breazeale is about as quick in the ring as a politician is to tell the truth.
He doesn't match Carnera for skill, conditioning, or strength. And, Breazeale's chin isn't really any good either. He is one of the worst boxers I have ever seen that actually got 2 heavyweight title shots. If he fought more often, he would end up with countless more losses.
