Not a fan of Tua, but I see an early KO on the cards for him. Noone ever hit harder, and Primo was there to be hit.
Primo could be hit, but he showed a lot of toughness and an underrated jab-and-move style IMO. I think he last until the near the end, Tua takes him out with an Izon-esque late stoppage.
tua wins but i dont thinks its that early carnera did have a decent jab and was quicker on his feet than most think but i think tua has him a few times and forces the stoppage around the 8th
This is not a good fantasy fight at all.:-( I would pick Tua from 1997 to 2002 to beat early 1930s Primo Carnera, but I ain't betting more than a few bread crumbs on it... You know, contrary to popular belief, Carnera was not a total ***** as a boxer... MR.BILL:hat
I wouyld favour Carnera as the more consistent performer. Yes Max Baer was able to beat him down, but lets not forgett that Baer had an 82'' reach to counter him with and he was in condition to press the action. Tua simply wouldn't have the range to capitalize on Carneras mistakes with that right hand counter which means that to win he has to force the fight. If Tua turned up in the form that he was in for the Ibeabuchi fight then he has a good chance, but the version who fought Lewis is just going to get outboxed to a lopsided decision loss. Whatever Carnera's limitations he won't turn up for this fight in anything less than perfect condition.
Carnera was susceptible to the right hand ,not Tua's money punch, the left hook. I see Tua winning by late stoppage or dec . A points win for Primo is entirely possible though.
carnera was much bigger and much stronger, tua was not a fast, accurate puncher like louis or tyson. tua had only the left hook, and the weak point of carnera was the right hand.tua was predictable. and he did not have the stamina of frazier or marciano. maybe tua would win by decision, but i don´t see a ko by tua. carnera would handle him pretty well in the clinch and he was very tall. still i give a chance to primo to win this match.
Carnera wins, on points. As easily as Lewis did it. Tua's at a serious disadvantage against 6'6 man who's mobile and can box a bit. He'd run out of ideas after about 2 minute mark.
plus carnera was stronger than lewis and he weighed 260-284 pounds of natural weight(big boned and pure muscle)
Yeah, I was going to mention his strength too. :good Serious Height + Serious strength + some boxing skill + mobility = Tua's nightmare
you and others make some good points and do feel carnera is underated a bit but for me he is just to open
I agree that Carneras range would give tua fits early on but I can see tua eventually catching up with him in a late stoppage
