I'm going to do something different this time, and I promise you guys won't miss the already-well-established approach of mine to the fights. I'm not going to score this one, I'm not even going to describe it much. I'm primarily just going to give a verdict. The verdict: terrible fight. Carnera was in against an equally large fighter, but not a notable one, and not one that was in the shape he was in. Carnera looked worse than I'd ever seen him. He went back to his corner in the 2nd, huffing and puffing, and it wasn't even a tough round. After a couple more rounds he hurt Impelletiere badly, but couldn't put him down. You could tell that Carnera's arms were getting heavy and he was pushing his punches through the soreness, through the exhaustion. Primo went back to his corner exhausted every time. The whole thing was just a horrible show. Primo was not only struggling, but it looked like he was aching, while trying desperately to put away a totally vulnerable no-name. Impelletiere was finally saved by the battering he was absorbing in the 9th. I felt like I was saved as well, from further visual punishment.
I guess your like is a yes. So, if you prefer shorter versions, yet so many like my exhaustive versions, maybe I should take into account that maybe more people, like you do not bother to read most of my posts cuz they're so long, so maybe I should post both an exhaustive version and a quick version. Whatcha think?
I wouldn't change anything. Don't be too concerned. If someone finds it too long to read, they won't read it. Those interested will. As for this fight, this was probably Carmera's worst performance on film so far. It was also the first time since Godfrey he was fighting someone basically his own size. Impellitiere didn't show much except being big and perhaps being able to take it. It was interesting that Dempsey didn't look like a midget next to these two big men. Carnera seemed to have gone back quite a bit since the Baer fight.
