Campollo was not a world beater, but he was a big guy, and he was ranked at some point.

I presume that the footage was put up to show that Carnera could be an effective finisher, against a guy his own size.

Look, there is serious debate and there is nonsense. Showing Carnera flatten a third rater , a never was, proves nothing except how little there is to go on to prove Carnera was legit .. 71 KO's in 88 wins and he is not one on legitimate list of top twenty punchers ... what else is there to say ? ..

If you are not careful, I might start comparing the technical deficiencies of some recent super heavyweights, to Carnera!

He was actually one of very few, who was a well rounded boxer!

Morrison would knock his block off. Offensively Tommy Morrison was pretty well as good as any heavyweight he just lacked in pretty much every other area of the game. Carnera on the other hand had nothing but size and toughness. Morrison would easily find his range to land his power punches and bomb out Carnera in a few rounds.

OK Janitor .. rate in your order of best to worst Carnera along with Bowe, Lewis, VIatli and Wlad ... no three card monte or other b.s. .. back up the point you are insinuating with a statement ... :hey

OK, I will tell you a truth that you might not want to hear.

Every super heavyweight who has been held up as an example of the “evolution of the sport”, has had glaring technical weaknesses, except Lennox Lewis, and perhaps Buster Douglas.

Riddick Bowe was exceptional on the inside for a big man, but outside of that, he had a defence that an elephant could walk through. That is why Golotta could hit him without trying.

Wladamir Klitschko is a great fighter, but he can’t even spell the word uppercut. He basically lacks any sort of inside game, outside of hugging his opponents.

Now Carnera had significant weaknesses, let that be in no doubt. He lacked killer instinct, and didn’t have the best power for his size, or the best chin.

He was pretty technically complete however!

He was good at long range, he was good on the inside, and he could switch between the two in a cat like manner. He was almost like Wlad and Bowe combined in technical terms!

Morrison is way too fast, and technically superior to Carnera. The referee stops this bloodbath after 3 rounds.

Morrison slips a jab and knocks Primo's dick into the dirt.

I don't think much of Tommy Morrison, but I think even less of Carnera.

I certainly hope in 70 years someone like Deontay Wilder isn't built up in some bizarro world revisionist history deal like the case with Carnera.

OK, what footage of Carnera have you seen, or what footage are you basing your conclusions on?

  15. Don't forget that Primo Carnera got his ass beat by Tony Galento too. But Joe Louis was the only guy to knock him cold. I think Tommy would win on points because he isn't knocking out Primo. Tommy would win because he would be busier, hungry for a knockout while Primo backpedals behind his jab, ala Wladimir Klitschko.
