Was he **** a small feather! Are you thick? He was a big feather and strong.
Why couldn't he have moved up 2ibs and fought mayweather? It was only 2Ibs.

I didnt said size mean nothing if you have power.

I said you can be a small fighter and still punch hard.

And he was a small fighter for his weight class who still hit hard enough to knock guys out.

Who knows if he would carry his power with him when moving up?

Just look at Wilfredo Gomez the greatest super bantam of all time.

Moved up to feather(just four pounds).

And wasnt half the fighter and his punches didnt have the same effect at 126 like they did at 122.

Compare him to MAB,JMM and Morales his main rivals at 126.

1st off,the offer by Mayweather was TWO pounds,not 4.Mayweather offered to move down.2nd,when Gomez moved up to 126,the 2 fellows he lost to were named Salvador Sanchez and Azumah Nelson,2 gents that are ATG fighters with GRANITE ****ing chins.I'm afraid that if your buddy Hamed were to have hit Sal and Azumah,he would have suffered the same fate as Wilfredo.:yep

Hamed had campaigned in his career at 118-122 and only fought at 126 b/c that's where a title shot was offered. Hamed was 5'3 or 5'4 (depending on which fight stat you go by, while most people close to him agreed he was 5'3 at best) and was grossly undersized in many bouts- title shots against Medina and Alicea in particular. He said he had moved up enough, and he had a point. That's why fights against Mayweather and Azumah Nelson never happened.

As with Marquez, people need some context. Marquez at this time in his career had the habit of turning down high paydays in favor of meaningless title shots. Hence, he turned out high paydays against Pacquaio, Hamed, and Morales in favor of title shots against lesser fighters. Only when this plan backfired with losses to Norwood and John did his management style change.

At the time Hamed was a top 10 p4p fighter who had rightfully won the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO titles and Marquez was in relative obscurity. He had no reason to duck Marquez, and in fact he didn't. He offered Marquez a career payday of $400k at a time when featherweights made nothing (compare this to the $30k JMM made against John) and Nacho wanted nothing to do with Hamed.

This quote is all you really need: "They want to get us when all of our energies are gone (from negotiating)," Beristain said. "They are only playing with our heads. We never want to fight (Hamed). Who do they think they are? They came out with an offer of $400,000. It is not worth it."

 

No.Marquez was #1 contender for almost 2 years.He was not in "relative obscurity".Then Hamed tried to lowball and rush him.JMM is still mad at Hamed for doing so and said it in a Ring Magazine a few years back.

 

And feather is where Hamed made all of his money and his fans bragging rights.As far as Mayweather is concerned,what point?Mayweather offered to MOVE DOWN TWO POUNDS(!!!!) to fight Hamed at a catchweight.

Mayweather was viewed as a beast and a future superstar in the sport. Hamed would have gotten MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR accolades if he defeated Mayweather. Even in defeat he would have gotten major props for taking on that challenge.

Mayweather tried to move up to fight Mosley in 99, but Mosley declined as Mosley didnt' want to risk a loss as he was chasing a big money fight with Hoya. Mayweather moved up to WW strickly to fight Mosley and Hoya.

First and only A class fighter Hamed faced schooled him, Floyd would beat him and Marquez would beat him, Hamed was very good fighter but not even close to what his fans try to make of him!!!
