just how great was he i remember manny stewart right before the barrera fight called him the greatest featherweight of all time in the documentary the little prince the big fight. so were would you rank him pound for pound also what do you think were his in no order best/biggest wins i got kelly medina bungu vasquez robinson
In my honest opinion Hamed was a good fighter with heavy hands and great relflexes. I believe he could of been a lot better if he would of fought will proper technique instead of his awkward off balanced style. You have to admit that Hamed was very carefully matched with opponents that were passed prime or on the down slope of their career. When Hamed finally did face an elite fighter in Barrera, he was thoroughly dominated. Hamed had charisma, brought excitement to the sport, but was not an elite level fighter.
What the ****'s happening to all these Hamed fans? Seriously? One thread comparing Hamed's P4P ability to Ali the other was about the Barrera fight which he clearly lost and got embarrass. And now this? atsch
not a hamed a fan but hamed was a pretty cool dude boxing needs more guys like him energize the sport a little and yes he did clearly lose to barrera but im not calling him the goat or comparing him to greats like ali all im simply saying is how would rank his p4p skills
true he was definitely not an elite fighter but he did have some really good skills its just a shame that he demonstrated those skills against passed prime/weak opposition
Fought but one great fighter in his life and was outclassed, and then quit instead of rematching. Nice to watch highlights, but not the real goods.
great showman with incredible reflexes and power. he could stun you from positions you wouldnt even think someone could throw punches from. his confidence in his punching abilty led to his downfall. when he relized his punch alone would not be enough against le creme, he took the easy way out. i would sooner compare his fighting ability to someone like carvajal than i would to ali, which is laughable.
Pretty much this ^ Gets a boxing lesson from MAB and then runs away from the sport and directly to the all-you-can-eat buffet. atg.
I think he was very exciting, put the lower weights in the picture and was a hof boxer. He isnt the best ever and got clearly schooled by a better boxer in barrera but the prince was still very good. I feel he gets a little underrated nowadays by most beside his hardcore fans.
He's a good fighter but he gave up easily after one loss. I watched his fight with Barerra, he was dodging Barerra's punches but it was obvious that he was getting affected mentally. Hamed is a good fighter with a weak mentality.
He made his mark for sure. I think he was kinda like roy jones, more athletic talent than fundamental skill. Unlike jones however when He was driving his car head on into the brick wall he put on the brakes. A smart general- when he saw battles he couldn't win he did not fight them. With MAB he realised that his talents alone weren't gonna be enough and it's unfortunate for us fans that we didn't get to see more of him. In the MAB fight to be honest I was surprised how well he actually took that ass whooping. He had a better chin and heart than most.
A good fighter that people tried to hype into a great one. On the one hand he was very fast, hard puncher, great reflexes. On the other he had terrible boxing fundamentals, low boxing IQ/ability to adapt, unwilling to change his approach or listen to anyone who told him, liked partying up and taking it easy to the point of it being detrimental to his career. And even a lot of his biggest wins were against guys who were getting old. I wanted to like him when he was becoming a crossover hit, but in the end he was more style than substance.
