Everything you need to know about Hamed can be seen in the Kevin Kelley fight. Lavish entrance, jumping over the top rope the whole shtick. Hamed had a laughably poor defense (but great reflexes), and used angles like a half blind snooker player which he combined with crunching power. No balance so if he was caught solid he was going down, but excellent recuperative powers and good though agility that he was awkward to hit. He was too small and short armed to outbox anyone but he was.a true switch hitter and a fine counterpuncher. He beat a good number of solid contenders from Manuel Medina to Wayne McCullough to Kevin Kelley. No world beaters but solid guys, and he unified all four belts. You could say Hamed never really learned to box but often he punched so hard it didn't matter. Until he met Barrera and then it was too late.
