For the first few rounds I thought he was employing similar tactics to Crolla vs Barroso by trying to make the lad gas before taking over the fight. Instead, he did it for 12 rounds. I didn’t give Prince a round and do you know what....I don’t even reckon he’s a real prince.
He lost every round against a guy who's ranked just inside the top 100 in the world. I don't even think the weight they fought at is his opponents natural weight category either! When we say he lost every round, he really did. Watch it if you get a chance, Princes opponents output was non-stop. In round 7 or 8 he basically went Matrix against the Prince, it was brilliant!
High guard, elbows tucked in, didn’t take a step back and very low punch output. Basically allowed Banquez to unload several shots at a time, mostly to the body early on with no reply. There was the odd retaliatory shot from Patel but he just stood there and absorbed an incredible amount of shots. As the rounds went on and the expectation that Patel would start opening up and giving it back rose, instead, Banquez got more and more confident and used the space and time that Patel was allowing him, to create more angles and throw even more variety of shots. It was utterly bizarre and i’m still a bit confused even now. Probably best giving it a miss, mate.
Nah I dont think so, Prince stuck in there for the full 12, he could of easily quit when the going got tough but he toughed it out so fair play to him. Like Twentymen said, it looked like he was waiting for his opponent to punch himself out, maybe that was the gameplan. Very Crolla like, but he just did not make any attempt to move out of the way of bodyshots or be slick, or get his range. Was just bizarre really in the end. Maybe the tactics just never materialised and after halfway point it was too late.
Yep -- the greatness of Banquez compared to the lousiness of Patel. Patel's output would've made Audley seem like prime Harry Greb by comparison.
Prince Patel has always been a bizarre character, and this was truly a bizarre way to lose by the sounds of it
To be honest He just isnt very good He got beat up last night His face compared to his oppositions afterwards was night and day
You must have been drunk and watched the wrong fight mate. Prince Patel showed outstanding defensive skills blocking a barrage of punches every round with face, chin and body. The rope a dope tactics were first class and his footwork was very impressive considering someone deliberately lined his boots with treacle. Showed great stamina, heart and desire to hear the last bell in his local bar and every female in the country must have been impressed with his advances in the ring. Rumours of Patel poking the wives of all three judges totally unfounded but they obviously took this into consideration after consulting Terry O'Connor pre fight. Those three judges should be banned along with the referee for not allowing Patel to work either on the inside or the outside. Heard an old wise Saudi boxthing fan talking to a younger Saudi man stating this was the biggest robbery since someone attempted to mug him for his phone. The young guy asked did you manage to hold on to your phone? The old wise Saudi stated yes as they lacked the strength and stamina to carry the red phone box. Prince Patel will be back I tell ya - you have not seen the last of the greatestht.
I don't think anyone is surprised how crap Patel is. I was hoping he could at least become IBO champion so he'd have a platform to con a lot of people into thinking he's good and land a big fight back here in UK.
