Out of shape talentless bums who don't belong in a ring nevermind on television half of these guys aren't fit to grace gypsy caravan site boxing, the way sky drone on about Prizefighter being great is sickening, it was a good idea once or twice but now it just shows up British boxing, its no wonder our fighters are a laughing stock at world level.
I think thats a bit harsh , the super middle weights all turned up in good shape. If you accept it for what it is, a night out for journey men and unheralded prospects then its quite good fun .
It is what it is, The Contender wasn't that much better. It's a chance for some of the hard workers of the sport to get a slight chance at some modicum of recognition. It produces a few real sparks now and then. It is fine to keep on going. Nobody confuses it with a showcase of world-level British talent.
i like prizefighter, but when some of the talents pulled out one side of the draw looked a bit bare, . wich 4 fighters allegedly beat mendy,? strange ones, i bet they must have been very north of the border decisions.
The last one with the super middles was probably the worst one I've seen, but at it's best prizefighter can be a good night of action. The previous tournament with the smaller guys was very enjoyable.
I thought the mid week Supermiddleweights was a great tournament. I wanted to see Mendy win after his first fight, with decent training and a move down in weight he could have a big future. He looks pretty well conditioned, seems to have a decent chin, has the right attitude and also has an excellent reach ... which is a very big advantage for him. He also has age on his size. Doing that at 19, wow! Remember he was hitting full supermiddleweights there, who were taller. He seemed to be able to move and hit at range, quite strange really. His KO win, he landed 6-7 shots bang on the target. :good The tactics were bang on to win that tournament too, a credit to the camp. Just don't push him too hard from now on.
I really enjoyed Wednesday's show. It is better mid week as you do not lose FFN. I never watch live because it has too much padding. I Sky+ and come in an hour later and have non stop action
Except a couple of prizefighter events, i have enjoyed them all. So what if there not world class fighters. For the most part, all of them come to fight hard. Its a good evening entertainment. Long may it continue.....
