Just been reading the prizefighter site about tonights event, and noticed they mention everyone came in under the weight limit of 10st 3lbs (143lbs) I thought the light welter limit was 140lbs? If that's the case surely this can't be billed as light welter? should be welter? Can anyone shed any light? Is there some rule i don't know about? http://www.theprizefighterseries.com/news/lynes_and_rees_joint_favourites_to.htm
Definitely 10 3 (doubt Mutley would have been able to make 140 lbs) Think Prizefighter go by their own set of rules.
Simple, any fights that dont involve titles can be at catch weight, decided by the promoter, they usually give a few pounds, makes for a btter fight cause the guys wont be as drained making the weight:good Far better for Muttley at least, cause he is far too tight at 10st, nothing left the last time he came down
yes but surely then it's not light welterweights then? theyr'e not within the offical limit so this is now welterweight with a catchweight? Surely should be called Przefighter - The Catchweights
also, pacquiao cotto was at a catchweight and that was for a title? Which goes further to raise my point, that fight was at welterwight with a catchweight. So how come prizefighter is allowed to bill this as Light Welterwight?
I think it's because it's not for an official light welterweight title. It's Prizefighter - Light Welterweights, and these guys usually fight at light welterweight.
It's a technicality really. If it means they're all healthy and ready to fight then I think it's fair enough. It's only a few pounds after all.
a bit. They are billing it as prizefighter the light welterweights, and at the weigh in not one of them has come inside the light welterweight limit. not one. Just seems a bit strange. But oh well.
Ho Nick, Pacman v Cotto was for a title but not a lightwelterweight, it was at welter so both came in within the limit! Get your facts correct wee man:good
where were my facts there incorrect about that pac cotto fight? ( which i went to i might add ) someone said you can fight at a catchweight if it's not for a title, and i merely pointed out the pacquiao cotto fight. Regardless of weight it was still for a title! :yep
