Would you match him with martinez at 160? I dunno about that martinez does a number on him IMO. I'd stay at lmw for now maybe have a few more defences he's still only 21 so no rush

 

No, I'd not stick him in with Martinez, but any of the others, yes.

He's naturally that size, beating up on welters/shot fighters won't do him any good, nor will the weight cutting.

Quit battling with the scales and work on the skills. He's definitely got bags of potential, but whether it'll come to fruition is another matter.

 

Alvarez/Cotto could be brilliant.

 

Agree to an extent, Floyd should have used more movement at times though, he was just sitting on the ropes for a few rounds, letting Cotto go to work on him.

Great fight if it's made. I'd have to fancy cotto if it happened I reckon he'd have too much for him. Id give alvarez kirkland or angulo in mexico for now or maybe even margarito??

 

Cotto still wasn't landing a lot when he was on the ropes though, he was still using the shoulder roll effectively.

I wonder how much of the general forum now thinks Pacquiao beats him because Cotto did a little better against Floyd than Pac :think

116-112 Mayweather. Nice to see Floyd tested and in a competitive fight.

The Pacquiao fight lost it's appeal for me after JMM III, and even after Mosley it was waning. Let's see Floyd really test himself and fight Martinez. Win or lose it's a great fight.

At times in this fight Floyd looked to have a lot more ambition and urgency, I think mainly because if he didn't Cotto could've won. If Floyd can coast, he will coast, but if someone brings their A game then we get to see a great fight like we did last night.

 

IMO Floyd is the first guy to beat Cotto fair and square, so well done to him.

 

I think Cotto showed his class last night, he showed boxing skills last night that many haven't credited in past. He busted Floyd's nose open and took more then two rounds IMO. His bodypunching slowed Floyd down, his full guard was fantastic taking a large portion of shots on gloves.

He sadly didn't have enough quality headshots to catch judges eye but tbh he wasn't gonna win on points in tight rounds and most round were closeish. Some he let slip away but Miguel can be proud he's shown his class yet again and the first man to make Mayweather fight for 12 rounds for a long while. Even hurt him a little in round 6 IIRC.

 

Pacquiao pummelled him. And I really don't buy that the weight made much difference.
