Bute showed a lot of character in the end. Credit to him.

118-110, bull**** in the 5 rounds I watched he dropped 2 rounds. Ah well the Froch rematch is still on then, nice easy pay day for the Cobra!

Think Grachev came out of that a lot better regardless of the BS scores. Proved he isn't a one hit, one punch wonder. Showed he's a decent 12 round fighter, is solid and effective over that distance if a little one paced and lacking variety, punches a bit and takes one even better. Definite world class, solid fighter. Yeah you can box the shite out of him, but it all depends who he's matched against, he can get joy against a lot of people.

Agree with that. I'm far more impressed with him in defeat tonight than when he beat Sillahyk.

Ward, Pavlik and whoever else must be kicking themselves at not fancying a bit of Bute.

Pavlik/Bute would be a good'un. I'd love to see that. For all the **** Kelly gets he's a heavy handed guy, presents some problems that I think Bute would have to find an answer for. His strength, his right hand that Bute is obviously very susceptible to, his ability to take a punch.

    Agree with all of this

Pavlik is pretty meh, especially now. But his right hand is still a real threat, and Bute would be eating it all night, if he isn't dissuading Grachev then he isn't going to stop Pavlik coming at him either. I'd favour Bute but it's a real difficult fight to call.

If you asked me this on May 25th I would have told you you're an idiot and Bute would murder him, what a difference 6 months make.

I don't think Pavlik would punch holes in Bute the way Froch could but his right hand is a threat in the sense its a well delivered punch with natural heavy handedness to it. When Kelly starts ploughing forward with the famed double jab and measuring a right hand he starts to get into his rhythm, he's a rhythm fighter that needs to feel comfortable that everything is coming off his jab and the way Bute seems to slide off into corners, and then onto the ropes and not really have the know how of how to escape them, thats a problem. He's not a Martinez that pivots and is gone, leaving you constantly off balance and can keep it up for 12. Or a Hopkins that knows all the tricks, how to get off the ropes and turn you, how to throw over your jab and maul you. You can walk Bute into problems so that's an interesting dynamic for that fight.

By the same token people can easily make a case Bute is far too fast and imaginative for him and moves rings round him all night, and that Pavlik isn't very effective at this weight which are valid considerations.

Pavilk would be toast imo. Since his spankings, he seems happy to fight at distance and that goes well for Bute.

He's happy fighting at distance against low key opponents, why would you not? I think we could reasonably expect a higher intensity in a big fight. He'd be forced into trying to shut Bute down as obviously he isn't going to win in a battle of speed. Yet his jab and his straight punching is still enough of a concern for Bute and if he can steadily pressure him it gets interesting. His performance against Martinez was better than some people realize in these respects, he was hardly battered or embarrassed in any way and picked up rounds and I think we can agree Martinez is more elusive.

Clearly Bute would be favourite but it'd be far more interesting than Pavlik/Ward to me which is a ridiculous mismatch, or indeed Froch/Bute.

Pavlik is an old 30 with his issues, but that's okay, we'd learn something about whether Pavlik needs to be put on the scrap heap and I'm certain we'd learn a thing or two about Bute along the way.

Just back to PF. I thought some of the officiating was blatently dodgy. Something seriously needs to be done about these officials, as they are ruining peoples careers.:patsch

Larry was gifted and so was karslaw. There was onli one winner imo. Carruthers was mearly making up numbers in many eyes. His 2 victorys tho were well deserved. I think that cash injection will see him move up the ranks..... war terry
