My friend had a few of them saved on his computer, so I watched them, and came to the conclusion that they were rather interesting. How often are these style tournaments ran in Great Britain?

Welcome to the bright side, American. ;)

We have about 6-7 of them every year. (Well, for the past 2 years it's been about that many so far).

The site for it is prizefighter.co.uk - all you need to know about it will be here.

I hope you watched the featherweight one's! They've been the best. :good

They seem to come in bunches but most on this forum seem to hate them although theyre pretty popular with the casual.

In the 60s through to the early 70s they dominated the scene, bringing the sport in this country down to its knees.

Hope the same think does not happen again...

Wow, what do you think was the root cause? Were the fights boring or something? I thought that the 3 I watched involved some pretty legit boxing. I always can appreciate some good technical boxing. Doesn't really seem like its job is to make or break boxing, but provide an entertaining night for the casual fan to enjoy some boxing, and give lesser known fighters some exposure. Just from my observation.

pretty much it, you get some decent fights in there, dont see why people hate it so much, helps people get exposure

What happened in the 60s and 70s, were promoters would tour tournaments as they were cheap. The fighters would not get the experience to develop in 4/6/8 round bouts. The top level fighters were unable to make a living as promoters did not use them. Ken Buchanan (a Lightweight World champ for the early 70s), almost quit in fustration because of this scenario.
