Pearce is dropped by a big right hand, and complain on the rise that it was to the back of the head. Will need to see a replay. Officially ruled, so moot. Foot jumps on him, and gets smothered. Left stiff-arm to the stomach by Pearce. Foot hooks away, building steam. Pearce is rocked by a curving right. They hold and spin, and Pearce tumbles to the mat and lays there a moment. No knockdown, but Pearce is knackered. Foot jumps on him and unloads. Waved off.

Semifinal #1: Mark Thompson vs. Dale Evans

 

Round 1

Evans is using the same approach from the quarters, bringing it straight to Thompson. Evans rocks Thompson with a series of right hands and left hooks! Thompson is looking to establish the jab but Evans is diving in past them. Leaning clinch. Thompson looks a bit bewildered. Thompson leans back and waves his jab, pawing it some. Soft looping right by Thompson, twisting into it. Evans is looking much fresher. Evans moves in, presses against Thompson and bounces off while Thompson tries to catch him with the jab. Flurry to the body by Evans. Thompson is flinching away from the body shots and trying to roll his jab out while creating space. Hard slashes by Evans, right and left hooks from outside. Thompson starts to settle in, getting the jab going from outside. Triple hacking right by Thompson. Clinch, and tug of war until they jerk free without referee aid needed.

Thompson is jabbing and leaning back, jogging a bit to the side to reset every few. Evans is throwing straight combos to the body diving down, then snapping up to hook. Thompson is giving it away. Evans is busier and putting more venom into his shots.
