Pro boxers 'could compete at 2016 Olympics'

Would prefer for the Amateurs to go back to how it was back in the day.

The Pro Game would reap the rewards. As it stands, only a few don't appear to be engaging in gloved fencing.

Like this for instance. This would be better than they have now, headguards if they want.

No problem then. Bigger gloves are enough IMO.

 

The current state of the amateur game is appalling in terms of fair judging, and fair scoring of who is winning the fight in order to prepare for pro boxing.

I think that the amateur game needs to look at these issues, and fight hard against any inclusion of pro boxers.

Including pro boxers in the olympics would be appalling for the sport.
I cannot believe that they want pro boxers to be part of it, but based on them including football you could almost see it coming.

Amateur boxing then was not so far removed from the pro game, and guys turning over where genuinely hot prospects. They didn't need to learn so much, they already had a lot of experience fighting, the only adjustment is to the round length, scoring and the fact it's more hurtful in the pro ranks (though the above K.O does not suggest it could be much worse ) so they can take on decent tests from the off, and the depth of the sport would start rising again.

Lomachenko and Camarrelle looked the best amateurs at the last games and the most suited for the turn over IMO.

 

It won't happen and even if it did, do you boxers like Mayweather would risk there 0 for a medal?

 

Could be that there is say, a 15 fight cap or whatnot.

It is a **** idea though, an old school amateur reform would be so much better.

Thoretically, but if you think about it how many of those are likely to go into a tournament FOR FREE and risk a loss?

Nah, it IS a gold medal. Some would bypass it, some wouldn't. There's only one space per country per weight class as well so it's not as if everyone has the choice. Which comes to the question - how do you pick your representatives?
