embarrassing as it is to say for someone who likes to think he follows boxing to say..but this is an area i'm very confused with.

these questions come in no real order and i am not lumping wsb in with unlicensed for instance.

firstly....wsb...i like the idea but i dont like the fact that those fights go on pro records when the boxers go pro....so, and i am basing this on a few sources one including a recent bunce / barry jones podcast who stated that they DO go on pro records...that a boxer has 3 wsb fights, returns to amatuer for a while, turns pro but starts with a 3 fight pro record.......i must add though that a lot of people have told me that this is not true and these fights don't go on pro records...i'm finding it hard to get a definitive answer on it.

semi-pro...based on the link below, just an example of what i read....semi-pro is what people refer to as unlicensed...which leads me into...

unlicensed...now, in the link below it is stated that that is a wrong term to use as all shows are licensed and legal, just not licensed by the british boxing board.
can an amatuer box on one of these shows and return to an amatuer career?
these fights do not get included on pro records...is that correct ??
and if they don't and yet are licensed, but not by british board, then how did haye v chisora for instance end up on their pro records ?

Semi-pro is actually what the vast amount of "pro" boxers really are.
Most have a day job, like the well known male nurses, cabdrivers, movers, carpenters and all that wich is used as an insult but is actually true.
A lot can't make enough money from boxing and just use it as an additional income source.

So I think unlicensed boxers are just a very small part of the semi-pro community.

Yeah semi pro or white collar. This means it isn't illegal but they are not licenced by any pro boxing board - haye Chisora was licsened by Luxembourg which despite its poor standards is still pro boxing. If you box collar you may struggle to get a liscence by both the bbofc and
Aba but its not impossible, I know plenty who have done boyh

Think it's bull**** Lomachenko is considered to already have had 5 pro fights.

An ex-amateur Olympic star going for a world title in his second fight would have been big news and great for boxing.

WSB bouts don't go on pro records. People keep repeating that, but they are mistaken.

ok...but based on this quote...why isnt EBF as an example having all their fights on pro records too....based on...

"We’ve got over 50 licensed promoters now and we’re a proper federation,” says EBF head Spencer Brown. “I would call what we do semi-pro boxing now because its a take between professional boxing and amateur boxing."

    and...

"Indeed, the ‘unlicensed’ tag itself is largely a misnomer. Just because it is not boxing recognised the BBBofC does not mean it is not licensed by another body."

Never could get a real definitive take on the WSB & pro records thing.

To me Lomachenko makes his pro debut Saturday I personally can't see how they would be recognised as on record pro fights it is confusing.

Lots of grey areas on this subject.....even the fully fledged pro ranks prizefighter here 3x3 hard to sanction that as a pro fight IMO think 3 rounds automatically think of the old amateur system!Hardly worthy of pro status that may as well be semi-pro to me lol!

Yep that's why I started a failed thread on his debut lol!

Boxrec has him debuting can't see how it is viewed otherwise WSB just a guise to slip the am's a few notes & keep them sweet!
