Kavaliauskas has just been stopped by Ortiz Jr and they were talking about Benn as the best 147 prospect above the likes of Ortiz Jr and Ennis.

McKinson, Yelussinov although he’s not with Matchroom anymore... just anyone who isn’t over the hill really.

I think that's a little generous. If he was Conor Fenn, a kid from Ilford, he'd have had to go through the process of winning fights on a number of small hall shows to build up a reputation and following, balancing this with a day job and fighting better opponents than the likes of Peynaud who beat him first time out. He's worked hard for this but he's on DAZN because a path has been laid out for him, one far smoother than it's been for many of his earlier opponents like Cole, who took a fight with Benn at 48 hours notice and had to get permission to get a day off from work on the Friday to prepare.

    Jesus that was awful.

Bellew got knocked out badly and they interviewed him immediately after the fight, while it was obvious he had a heavy concussion.

He kept saying the same things over and over again.

I watched that fight and it was decent, Kavaliauskas is one seriously tough guy, he's stopped Ava and his two defeats have come against the very best, in Crawford, and a very good prospect in Ortiz jr who is without doubt a better fighter, right now, than Benn. Jaron Ennis is very good too, he demolished Lipinets.

Like I said in my post his self hype grates on me but at the same time he's doing the right thing. He's selling himself and he's making himself a commodity. The more noise he makes, the more tickets he sells and the more opportunities that will come his way because he puts bums on seats and gets people interested in him.

Boxing (like most of life)is unfair. Some get a path all set out for them whilst nearly everyone else have to graft away, travelling abroad, being the away fighter etc. Let's face it, why would Benn do all that when he clearly doesn't have to? I will give him credit, despite all the bull that he comes out with, he has worked very hard on improving himself as a fighter and he does set out to entertain with his style.

You do know every fighter in his position would say the same. No-one in there right mind is going to say in an interview how they are average etc!
He's not behaving the way you want so you don't like him. It's pathetic really.

    This simply isn’t true.

Benn has his flaws and is still learning, but his all action style is what fans want to see.

British boxing fans would rather see a flawed warrior than a boring but fundamentally sound technician.

My take is that if he was called Conor Jones he would be lauded by the hardcore fans as an exciting talent with good potential, instead of being held to the lofty standards of his HOF father.

Conor Benn seems like the type of guy who is aware of all this unfair criticism, and uses it as fuel to motivate and prove the haters wrong.

He does get a lot of smoke blown up his backside too by the casual matchroom brigade who have been programmed to believe young Benn is the second coming of Destroyer, which perhaps adds to his arrogance which in turn causes the narrative to go full circle and make the astute viewer think he has delusions of grandeur.

No sorry your completely wrong, I couldn't care less how he behaves as long as he could back it all up and to this point he has nothing to be so arrogant about .

His dad acted the same but the difference was nigel was being himself the guy was an animal and did it time and time again, conor whether you want to admit it or not is just trying to fool people with this act.

    That's what I don't like

    Granados is 32.

What you're saying is that because he is unlikely to replicate or surpass his father's considerable achievements, he ought to forego his passion? That's an odd conception. Does this apply to other professions, too? Should a builder give up his trade because he will never be able to run the family business as effectively as his father? Should an aspiring lawyer take up a lesser (to him) career because he will never be as good a lawyer as his mother?

He's a prat, but there is no need for hyperbole. There is enough material there to suggest that he is overrated by the powers at be.

Honestly, after the first round on Saturday night I felt I’d been wrong about Benn and there is something special there, but after a few rounds he fell back into the parts of him being overly wild and looking very limited.

Granados was fairly clever with his defence - he was never going to challenge offensively bar a Hail Mary punch but the way he turned his head with the shots showed a lot of limitations with Benn - after a couple of rounds you could see that Benn’s winging shots would struggle to land clean, but he refused throw straight shots or concentrate on the body. Granados did come back and land some decent shots and I just can’t help but feel any decent counter puncher is going to do well against Benn.
