I was sparing about 2 hours and my sparing partner was smaller (6.0 ft 183 cm) then me (6.4 ft 195 cm). And i have big problem i cant land jab him with my right hand (im southpaw). See when i fight oponent like my height im landing 90% shoots. So where is problem ?? I have title boxing instructal dvds i will start learning basic again. And i will have amater fight in august and i dont want to disappoint myself and my trainer.
I think the problem is your a southpaw that's trying to jab with the left hand. I'm hoping that was a typo.
Why were you missing? Did he have good head movement? Was he jamming your right jab with his left hand? Is he orthodox? Assuming he is orthodox and he's jamming your jab hand, there a few things you can do. 1. You could slap his left hand down with your right hand, then sneak the jab over the top in the same motion. 2. Throw your jab at a slightly looped angle to go around his guard. 3. Move to your right, throw your jab and let him block it, then you hit him with the straight left. Similarly you could just throw that jab right into his shoulder, move around then hit him in the head with either a straight left or a quick jab or hook off the jab. 4. Double up on the jab: this can be a bit awkward when fighting southpaw vs orthodox, but it can be done. It helps if you are a good mover on your feet.
I have today sparning session and i will try to do things you said and maybe i will tape sparing and post here . wish me good luck
