Problem with my HW top 10

    Liston was Foreman's idol. Sonny's beat many good and versatile fighters - punchers, slicksters, boxers etc. Foreman was a force in the 70's his win over Norton is great and over Frazier to but I think that Frazier was past his best - still great but terrible styl wise. He got bigger names on his resume but Liston got deeper one.

    Loses to Ali and Young really hurt him in my view. He wasn't old, he was young and strong dude. I think that both he had mental problems like Tyson that time and partly the riddly was solved how to beat him. His comeback was amazing but I remember that his fight with Moorer was setted up in shady way. Legend though.

    This was the case with most of the Black Murder Row contenders. They were forced to fight each other and other tough contenders on an almost bi-monthly basis. It was a different era.

    Still, Sheppard was recoginzed by the Ring as a top 5 and top 10 regular from 1943-1947 going into the Moore fight.

    The last time Bivins made LHW limit was 1943, several years before he met Moore. Like Marciano, Clarence Henry was a career HW ranging from 184-190ish.

    If by "just over 175" you mean 10-25+ lbs over than yeah...maybe most of Holyfield's opponents were "just over 200 lbs"

    Tell me Mongoose, is todays HW scene is good in your opinion? I would be suprised if you say YES or it's OK or even "I can live with it".

    Yes, Sheppard was highly rated at one point, but so what? How would you call an era in which Curtis Sheppard is #3 HW in the world? Tell me something about him that I don't know, maybe I'm really greatly misinformed and missed something.

    You wrote down 6 names out of Moore's +60 fights and still say that there was no size issue. I would starve to death with that kind of chunks if I would like to eat it.

    -Good fighters but frustrating politics and management. Contenders do not fight contenders anymore.

    -Guy was a tough puncher that fought everyone, anytime, anywhere. Only man to KO Maxim, Moore called him the hardest puncher he ever faced. World War II was a scrappy competitive era with the Championship frozen and guys like Murray/Bivins/Sheppard/ and Walcott forced into fighting each other 4-6 times a piece in short stretches of time so they could eat. Imagine Haye/Adamek/Povetkin/ and Vitali doing something like that today, do you think there records would look the same?

    -Again, I only listed the top tier contenders. Moore's boxrec is free for you to view. I'm not going to name every 200lber the man fought because you don't want to do your own research. Again, the majority of his HW opposition was 190-200+. You have not produced anything to support your blanket "just over 175" claim.

    Intersting about the hatchetman, but still i'm not convinced that he was a top level fighter

    you are the one trying to convince me hat moore's opponents were far bigger than lhw's my friend, so it's up to you to write them down, i din't fund them that many so i will let you do the hard work ;)

    Doesn't work that way. You made the claim its up to you to support it. I'm just commenting that its not very wll informed.

    But this is all I'm supplying

    Against 200+ lb fighters Moore is about 22-1-1 19 KOs maybe 4 of the wins against top 5 regs. That is a pretty resepectable mini-career in its self. Only Wlad and Lewis can match that in the past decade or so.

    190+ is considerable more. I don't see too many near 175 lbs on his HW resume.
