With the big fight on Saturday is anyone else getting problems picking up Satanta on Sky channels 429 and 430. Ive been with Satanta for a couple of months with no problems but this week the picture cuts up badly and there is no sound. Been on the phone to Satanta three times and after various other excuses the bloke told me that they have a huge problems and Satanta is not being picked up properly by thousands of people accross the country. Anyone else had problems with Satanta on here?
I have not had it with Setanta but some other channels go like that sometimes. It could just be the high winds were getting around the country messing up the reception.
i have a stelitte engineer coming out today. i tried tuning it in myself , just could not pick up setanta clearly. basically the problem is sky broadacsts virtually everything on astra 28.2 degree`s east. setanta, which i did not know when i ordered broadcasts on the much cheaper , and weaker signal sateliitte of eurobird at 28.5 degrees east. also setanta have a very low bitrate. because setanta`s signal is so low and it broadcasts on another satelitte than sky it means the small sky dish with a fraction of movement is out of alignment , and even with my sat finder i could not tune it in , so have to get a friend around with a sat business to do it for me. all setanta have to do is pay for an astra slot, but of course they do not give a **** as long as they are getting money. there are litrally tens of thousands in the same boat and nothing really can be done about it , as it is not in skys intrests to help. setanta you will find will blame your dish installation, but its a load of bollox , THERE SHOULD BE SOME WARNING ON THERE TAKE UP PACKAGE THAT SETANTA DO NOT broadcast on the main astra satellites of which there are many but on the eurobird sat.
that should be cable or freeview which will not effect you losing the picture as sky dish customers of setanta are getting.
Perhaps the broadband service wasn't such a bad choice after all. If they screw it up on Saturday though, I will put their windows through.
apparently, the broadcast times will be extended beyond 3am for events like this... http://www.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Other-sports/2008/3/06/Boxing-Freeview-announcement/?facets/sport-space/great-britain-locale/
I've been having trouble with no signal all week. I'd be starting to sweat about the fight if I wasn't going to the O2 to watch it.
I thought this was only a SKY problem but i've just checked on my cbale box and ALL my Setanta channels are showing a blank screen.
The wierd thing is I can't get Setanta 1 and 2 but I can get all the other channels like the Racing, LFC, Fight Network etc OK.
All the Setanta related channels, eg 1 & 2, golf, celtic TV etc are DEAD on Virgin Media so this is not a SKY issue.
Got rid of me sky and getting BT Vision tomorrow!!! It's bound to be a balls up for the fight, with my luck, no question.................hope you all enjoy it..
The broadband service is running fine, but they still have two whole days to come up with a way of screwing it up. I reckon it will be ok on the night, it's such a big fight they wouldn't dare mess up....would they...?
