González is running in, dropping his gloves, and trying a little slick defensive shimmying before shoulder-tackling in and then holding & hitting with his free rear hand. Barriga is making sure to get off at least one flush right jab or hook for the judges to see before he gets tied up each time.

González is hooking away on the sides of the head and flanks of Barriga. Chopping counters from Barriga in the pocket. Slug fest at point blank. They're somewhat smothering themselves pressing chest to chest, but heavy stuff still landing. González imposing himself physically, leaning on Barriga. González scores a jab on the mush, and hooks off it, putting together long scoring sequences as Barriga seems a little overwhelmed -- whether due to cuts, fatigue, González's frustrating and foul-laden style or a little of each.

González is approaching, base splayed wide, tilting off-center above the waist, twitching nervously, pump-faking. Barriga watching him come, not reacting to anything until they're in striking range. González able to dart in, bowl in some gutterballs on the body and tie up, often getting in an incidental backfist or some other unseen foul on the ref's blindside as they slam together. Filipino contingent in the crowd starts a "BAR-RI-GA!" chant to egg their man on but he is struggling to go more than a couple of seconds without having a damper thrown on the action.

González is getting walked down and jabbed at. Barriga waiting a little too much, advancing without much upshift in gear, reluctant to let go until he is right atop González, defending impeccably but not taking advantage of many offensive chances except to jab once. Lots of nervous ducking, sideways falling and springing up by González, hoping to score with jack-in-the-box shots but often missing badly.
