9-1 vs. 10-1 and each coming off lone professional defeats, against the same guy (Brazilian puncher Jonhatan Soares "Maximus" Lourenço Cardoso...small world) but Álvarez Jr. is the obvious A-side. He's eight years Arellano's junior and has a bit of hype behind him. 6'3" is freakishly tall for the feather range. (this contest was originally scheduled at super feather but they ended up changing it to a contracted 133lb catchweight)

I believe I overheard them mention him sparring Shakur Stevenson as well.

Arellano warned repeatedly for incidental butts charging in during the first minute or two in the 5th.

Arellano bossed the round even though he flirted with a point deduction or DQ for much of it.

I like Malignaggi's commentary - not shredding either guy, but providing constructive criticism on where they each need work. Arellano just barging in because he "isn't good enough to get inside any other way" and Álvarez Jr. "letting him come in because he doesn't yet know how to control range".
