I've never seen Jonhatan Soares "Maximus" Lourenço Cardoso fight, but...these guys are both decent (green, but decent), so that's already a good reflection of his résumé.

 

Eighth feels dangerous for both men. Arellano doing well at mid-range catching Álvarez's jabs in his right mitt and then countering with a jab and overhand right up top. Álvarez flurrying on him on the way out and then blasting at range with long straights. Both taking good shots and showing a chin.

 

Commentators half-jokingly asking if they can extend the distance to give us a couple more rounds.

I do think in a 9th or 10th we might have seen a stoppage the way things were heating up.

Stick a fork in Teddy Atlas. He's reduced to analyzing GRS vs. JSJ on some podcast with Algieri (they're showing a clip of it now) and says he doesn't like Smith's chances because of Ramírez's activity, and:

"Those guys with da, what do you call it, the punches counting, the whatever, their fingers need to be iced after he fights"

Somebody's 0's got to go, Mexican orthodox versus Panamanian southpaw.

"Magnifico" Núñez in the camo trunks (and southpaw, as stated above); "Super" Omar Salcido in the sparkly dark grey satin.

Núñez gliding around the ring, keeping distance, baiting Salcido in and floating a right jab up into his face. Salcido, as Malignaggi points out, "seems the sort of guy that needs to set his feet to feel comfortable throw" and looks to be shuffling through mud. Núñez timing some hard lefts on the body while dancing around the ring.
