Round 2

Núñez is denying Salcido any clear opportunities. Skitting around, floating the jab from a buoyant crouch, and slithering off the ropes just as Salcido begins to press in thinking he's got Núñez pinned. Salcido throwing out a shuriken double left jab but unable to close the gap. Lead slapping right hooks and jack-in-the-box left uppercuts from outside by Núñez, always shrinking back after scoring or getting blocked so that Salcido has no chance to counter.

Round 3

Salcido just marching ahead, tossing jabs and lunging rights, no plan B or adaptive creativity shown offensively so far. Núñez lures him in backing into a corner and uncorks a big line drive counter left after showing a twitch-feint of it twice in a row. Salcido down, but not shaken. Lead lefts and right hooks paired together by Núñez now. Salcido very hesitant, frozen in place just defending. They exchange stepping together and Salcido does paint Núñez's face with a left hook, perhaps the first clear power shot for him. Jab up top, left cross on the body from Núñez.

Crazy that they're the same height (5'7"). Salcido has a much more upright stance and appears a good 3-4 inches taller.

 

Round 4

Núñez is dancing around, tossing high right jabs and occasional left uppercuts on the body or chin. Salcido blundering in, picking off some of Núñez's jabs, hacking down with both hands and getting dodged and clinched. Getting ugly, very limited stalling action. Núñez in control with the smash and grab. Some good left uppercuts getting in here and there.

Very underwhelmed by the Mexican.

 

Round 5

Salcido is at least trying in this round, throwing hard right hands from the bell. Núñez too slippery, however. Núñez using movement in & out, up & down, and diagonal while carving Salcido up with right jabs and pegging him in the belly with the left uppercut. Salcido churning up the waters near the head of Núñez with both fists but can't get a clean piece of him.

Round 6

Núñez is holding Salcido at the end of his right jab. Salcido comes flurrying in and bearing his weight down over Núñez's back and gets lifted in a Fireman's carry and nearly slammed on the mat before the ref intervenes. Núñez is navigating the ring, sitting on the ropes and bouncing his butt off them as he falls in and ties up. Núñez with light counter right hooks and hard lefts as Salcido comes in. Some very ugly clinches now, both men slamming their forearms into each other's throats roughly.

Paulie Malignaggi going apopleptic over Salcido failing to realize that when Núñez is using the "bladed" stance, he's only looking to set up the left hand and could be vulnerable to a left hook.

 

Round 7

Núñez stuffs a couple of HARD right hooks in the mouth of Salcido as they're spinning around each other in the middle of the ring in a half-clinch. They wrestle awkwardly onto the mat. Ref calls time in after checking both of their gloves and whispering instructions to cool it. Some holding & hitting by Salcido in the clinch now. BIG counter right hook from Núñez and Salcido down again. Just over a minute left in the round. Núñez goes straight back to his right hook, arms spread wide, legs splayed, dashing in and tossing high fast hook after hook, RJJ style. Salcido holds. Núñez slouches over and shows the jab, then drops his arms to bait Salcido. OMG!!! They exchange stiff jabs and Núñez himself goes down!!!!!
