Ochoa sticking his neck in the lion's cage, pushing a jab and cross int Cano's face, getting brushed with some right hands at medium-long range but not zipping up his defensive head movement or un-squaring his stance. BIG RIGHT HAND BY CANO! Thunderous knockdown...timber!! Ref counts but Ochoa looks shellshocked. Cano jumps on him. Big combination, body shots, head, swarming with hooks all over. THERE WE GO!!

I think PCC realized what a downward trend he was on in the 4th & 5th and that if he let it go much longer he might enter "mind is willing but the body no longer is" territory.

What a show-closing explosion that was!

 

Ochoa is arguing the stoppage???

So much so I'm going to run it back and watch that whole sixth round again.

Speaking of beautiful, which of those ring-rats you suppose Cano will be smashing to continue his 34th birthday (and victory) celebrations?

 

That knockdown was actually from a quick sneaky left hook paired with a right cross. They were thrown practically at the same time, one atop the other, Cano showing a sudden burst of speed after having spent 2.5 rounds in sluggish mode. That was brilliant. Lots of refs would have stopped it at the knockdown, but this one gave Ochoa every chance to show him something. Commentators are right...if you're not going to hold or punch back while getting hit that many times in a row, you're inviting that outcome.
