    You're just NOT GETTING IT.

There is literally no fair way in practice to integrate amateurs with pros because of the different weighin standards.

Erring on the side of pros being forced to do same day weighins (and forcing them to fight bigger men) stacks the deck in the amateurs' favor. It is what it is.

But you're assuming the amateur 178lbers are draining themselves like pros to make that weight. There's a double standard.
N'Dam's natural weight in the pros is 160. His natural weight in ams is 178.
It is what pros are used to, because they're busy killing themselves getting not just to a very high weight of 178lbs, but as low as 160lbs. For amateur bouts, it is not as taxing on his body to make that weight. N'Dam has been getting himself ready for a while now and had to go through Olympic qualifiers thus was able to get accustomed.

If he was built to be most effective at 178lbs he would be a light heavy / cruiserweight in the pros. He isn't, he's a middleweight.

Who the hell said that about N'Dam? Everyone in their right mind felt he was easy pickings and thus there wasn't any hooplah about him entering.

But yeah, he was embrassing here. He's made it so that Olympic boxers will welcome the pros just so they can have bragging rights for beating them.

I can see N'Dam wanting a rematch against Broges. Bet he keeps on boxing until Broges turns pro (if he does) and then demands a fight with him :D

Ndam couldn't make 165? Weird..yeah he's essentially competing against LHW and cruisers, in this case I expect him to get bounced in the 1st round

My favorite part about N'Dam is the way he gets knocked down...and knocked down...and knocked down.

Aren't amateur bouts scored pro-like nowadays?

People who worried about safety and complained about the "pros" being allowed in the Olympics missed the biggest part of it all, AIBA allowed it!

AIBA aren't stupid, the knew that the pros would struggle to find a relevant weight (a few will but most won't), they would have to adapt their style in the ring significantly, and better yet AIBA weren't going to do anything to allow them to look good.

There's a handful of professional fighters who could do well in the amateur ranks, notably fighters at the lower weights who remain low all the time (or even those in the lower weights who are still considered small like Ryuji Hara or Guillermo Rigondeaux) or those fighting at Super Heavyweight, but most weren't even going to get far.

It's not proof that professional fighters couldn't, in the future, go far but they would have to focus on the Olympics months in advance rather than weeks. They would have to change their whole regime and and the such. It's possible but we're unlikely to see it with a big name.

The Olympics is only over 3 rounds so a huge change in format for the 12 round fighters. Think WSB and APB do 5 rounds.

What you're saying doesn't really make any sense. GGG was in the 75kg weight class as a kid, Ward was in the 81kg weight class as a kid. Many amateur 81kg fighters have turned pro as middleweights. The nature of the amateurs is that you can't cut as much weight. Ndam had no disadvantage, he was fighting guys his size. And of course he was never going to get near the medal rounds.

They're older and not used to it anymore. It's been years and their bodies have changed.

    That's the bottom line.

In any matchup of any nature, whoever is more accustomed to the rules has a huge advantage.
