Professional boxers in the Olympics?

I wouldn't be in favour of this at all.

 

no i also hate that pros play baskeball in the olympics its an amatuer event

 

the top boxers wouldnt enter so it would be pointless and a gold medal wouldnt mean anything.
now it is an excellent way for young boxers to make a name for themselves to kickstart their pro career.
instead we'll just see the youngsters miss out to the more experienced journey men

 

Imagine being an inspiring young talent at 18 years of age moving through the am ranks, and then there he is.. elite powerpunching machine Manny Pacquiao completely destroys you and thumps all your inspiration out by knocking you spark out.

this is ****ing disgracefull..i hate the fact pro soccer players are alowed to play when its for amatures...its should stay for amatures....everyone should be against this..no pro athelets in the olympics atall

 

i wouldn't mind if but needs a committee involved on who should compete. willy bain and jerome thomas recently where talking about how they loved the amateurs. and wouldn't mind turning back.

i think its a bit unfair for a professional to be completely unable to compete. some amateurs are better in the pro and via versa you should be able to switch. they i used to do that before.

charlie z cant fight in the amateurs because he has a pro bout....that's ridiculous. a guy that could def benefit some

 

Charlie Z can't fight at all, you're correct.

 

Pro's are allowed to return to the amateur ranks if they have had only 4 or less bouts as a pro I believe...it should stay that way.

 

but had he been able to do the amateur route, he probably could.

Imagine if Pacquiao and Mayweather were allowed to go into the 2012 Olympics and they face each other in the final, but with no $50m payday.

 

I have mixed opionions about this. As a fan I think it would be great to see the best of the best in the Olympics. If the best of the best of the best were to participate. It would also be intresting to see how they adapt to amatur rules. Howerver, This would greatly hinder the devlopment of young boxers and may have a nagitive effect on the sport down the road.

 

Yeah and Imagine if Manny got his ass whooped.

 

There's your answer to why it'll never happen haha. I'd love to see Arum's face if that happened haha !
