Arum is up to his old tricks, trying to make some cash in spite of a mandatory. He wants Prograis to fight on what's essentially a Ramirez card in Cali before he fights for the title. Prograis is having none of it and I happen to agree with him. If the bout had not of been mandated before the Imam vs Ramirez then I could understand it but it was. Thoughts.
I'll believe it when I see it. Behind Lomachenko, Ramirez is Bob's second biggest prized possession. You would THINK it would be TC, but Bob simply doesn't value black fighters the way he does Latino/Euro fighters. Bob will try everything in his power to ensure Ramirez has a long reign at 140, which means keeping him away from Rougarou and Garcia.
Ramirez deserves a voluntary title defense before fighting his mandatory. Hell, Wilder does not fight any mandatories..................well, Haymon creates some from the alley and nursing home...........
Yeah, in normal circumstances he does but the fight with Prograis was already mandated for the winner of Imam and Ramirez. The fight between Prograis and Indongo was just as significant and could have been for the vacant belt. It's just that Bob and Don has more pull than De bella. Actually the belt shouldn't have been up until the results of the two fights were determined and winners should have fought for it. This doesn't have anything to do with Wilder.
they prefer to watch it on TV for free and on streams rather than buy a ticket or PPV. Yet about 90% of Youtube boxing channels are blacks, and forums/comments sections are full of them.
I agree. Prograis has destroyed two name opponents in a row. Ramirez was just in a decent scrap with Imam, so the fight needs no building or cooking. Arum is being a hypocrite and also trying to stall the impending arse whoopin Ramirez is going to get. Ironically, had Arum put Rigondeaux on a Lomachenko undercard first, against a name 130 pounder, it would have not only built up that fight more, but Loma would have gotten more credit for the win.
Not with two weight classes difference. It would have made it a bigger win, and a more viable win, had Rigondeaux beaten a Berchelt, or Corrales etc, first on a Lomachenko card, before fighting Lomachenko. Thats all I'm saying. This Prograis vs Ramirez fight is ready to go right now, neither guy will be a PPV star in one more fight.
