You are missing the point. Loma vs Rigo had been talked about since Loma made his debut. They were a weight class apart and both had two Olympic gold medals. Thats years of low key hype. Of course had Rigo been more active or more accomplished at a higher weight, it would have been a bigger fight but it still was a huge fight. Prograis vs Ramirez was first mentioned some 6 months ago or so.
Prograis vs Ramirez will be no bigger two fights down the line. It's a fight that's ready now. One guy will be a stepping stone for the other, who will then move on to bigger things.
It don't matter really cause Barry Mcguigan said Josh Taylor is probably gonna go down the WBC route, so they are just keeping those belts warm for the Tartan Tornado
It can be bigger. Lets just say Bob knows his ****. It wont become a super fight but it would be a good one.
I don’t think Ramirez is scared to fight Prograis. He seems like an honest professional who’s willing to test himself and let the chips fall where they may. At the same time, I think Arum is going to milk Ramirez, who has the right ethnicity and a good background story, for all he can before he throws him in 50/50 fights with a Prograis level talent. Unfortunately for Ramirez and the fans, he lacks the clout to force Arum’s hand. As a result, he has to go along to get along for the time being. Prograis is a victim of high risk low reward. He should just collect step aside money and beat up any and everybody who will fight him.
Prograis should demand the fight and if ramirez and bob wanna mess him about then they will have to give up the title because imo he struggled with imam who is trash and if imam done less of trying to slick by making ramirez miss and let his hands go he could have won
That’s my point when all these so called Ward fans come out of the woodwork, they couldn’t even fill up the seats in his home state. Both Wilder and Spence are two exciting black fighters and yet they’ve not been promoted
Yes, but those two can grow in profile as a rivalry. Loma and rigo had been "rivals" for years prior to the fight. As a promoter i can see why Arum wants to wait a bit. As a fan i want to see it now. Both had career best wins and performances.
I respect his independent spirit, although he might not want to burn all his bridges until he gathers more clout...
Terence Crawford has the best skill and tech in the game period and has yet to become a household name. If I know something as fact I state it. Call me whatever name you like. Words don’t hurt me, actions do, ain’t nobody want that action though.
I'm with Prograis and it's a nice attitude to have. There's no need for this to be dragged out, it's so pointless and boring.
This is common practice nowadays. The strong challenger wants his shot the moment it's due, while the champion and his promoter want interim fights inbetween, protecting their belt(s) and worth. Hoping the threat eventually goes away by either losing or moving on. GBP, PBC, TMT and Arum all played that game multiple times. Sometimes as blatant as possible.
