Without looking him up, I'll say this dude was fighting in the mid-90s. A heavyweight, incredible build, fast as lightning with a jab that mirrored his nickname, Eric 'The Whip' Curry. A sure thing, I thought. And then he disappeared. About 7 years passed (I think) when I saw his name pop up that he was to fight a 12 rounder for some USBA-like title. I was totally excited until I saw him. He looked like Leroy Jones in build with an enormous gut hanging over his trunks. I wished he had stayed missing. Does anyone know why he disappeared for that period of time?

Thistle, almost sounds like Dana Roston. I remember the mouth well, although not particularly that quote. He was a featherweight, if this is the same fighter. He had been doing well but, became annoyingly vocal after beating this dude named Rocky Garcia, I believe. He had the audacity to say into the cameras, "I'm tired of fighting this sh*t!" Well, the Gods were not kind to Roston after this comment. Over his next 20 or so fights, he may have won only once. Again, I don't know if this is the guy you were referencing, but it does sound like him.

you know that might just be him, the name is familar however a pic would be better - I googled Dana Roston and theres no images (?).

it just goes to show two things however, the old saying "first pride then the fall" I wish fighters would just shut up, be gentlemanly and ply their trade and let their craft do the talking!

second, RESPECT for ALL great fighters who make it to the top (and live there), especially against top competion and at better times and strong divisions - they certainly were/are the Real Deal.

    thanks Scartissue.

thistle1 - i was going to suggest it might of been Kenny Gould - very fast handed welter, of early 90's as i recall, suddenly disappeared when on a run of six wins, perhaps eye trouble causing his sudden departure ?
he did look a good prospect at one stage.

yeah there are some pics of Gould and I'd say thats the fella, as I remember this character to be in around WW and fast as _uck, however I never realised he went that far as I don't rember seing him again after those ESPN, TSN fights.

    cheers very much Area53,

    P.S Area53, is that a woman's 'forbidden zone'

Tyrone Crawley seemed to just disappear after losing to Bramble. Thought he was an excellent fighter with a bright future.

if you're talking about mesi you're wrong he kind of put an asskicking on jirov that most likely ruined him as a contender up until the last rounds where jirov hits him full on behind the head

it was an illegal shot that did him in followed by several blows which still couldn't stop mesi

exposed is such a cheap word used by cheap dirty people:-(

Jose Luis Lopez looked like the real deal, almost taking a prime Ike Quartey out, and getting a draw in the process. Dude liked drugs and surfing better than boxing supposedly.

Junior fought May 7th on the Pacquiao/Mosley undercard, and again June 11th in Phoenix. His next fight is scheduled for September 17th in Parker, AZ...it's going to be Nationally televised :)

Do I detect that you're not a fan of Lou Esa? Up until the Tate loss he was progressing well. Also had a good amateur career.
