Absolutely, and I've said more than once in my four years here that Crawley-Blake should be on youtube. Here's Ty in a rare stoppage win, his next to last bout (a decision win over Angel Rodriguez was his exit from boxing). This former USMC paratrooper was already working for the Philly police force at the time, his intended career, and he did indeed make a career out of it.

For me, Cubanito Perez comes to mind. I thought he might have beaten the undefeated Camacho after buckling Hector early in a corner with a body attack. But Irleis was ruined by severe allergies, although he came very close to dethroning Jimmy Paul for the IBF LW Title over the championship distance in an MD loss.

Dwight Davison's walking tank job against Sibson still infuriates me. I was convinced that Dwight (who was never stopped) would be strong enough and durable enough to take Hagler the championship distance, something I couldn't buy about Tony, considering the fact he was starched early by Mwale. (I later saw Sibbo get clobbered by Dangerous Don Lee. I must admit that Tony took that upset like a man in the post fight interview after Lee upset him. But I never believed he had the punch resistance to cope with Hagler, something absolutely necessary to hang with Marv. Davison, being a former high school wrestler, had exceptional physical strength, was well skilled, and could take a punch.)

I might get some **** for this but, to me Enzo Mac, was doing well for himself, until the Haye fight, he had power, skill, ok he had a dodgy beard, but other than that he was quite good. Shame to see how his career has ended, hes been Kod like 5 times in a row or something

I don't recall the specifics, but severe sinus headaches were an issue, and his immune system was haywire. I have a cousin in Miami who seems to be allergic to just about everything under the sun, including green grass, let alone pollen. I believe that may be the reason he lived in the Las Vegas desert, in an attempt to minimize crippling allergic reactions.

As I said, I thought he might have beaten Camacho in Phoenix, another desert location. But his next two defeats were that SD to Paul in June 1986, then to Meldrick Taylor in July 1987, both in Atlantic City, a place and time of year when organic allergens would have been much more in abundance.

During December 1986, coming off the challenge of Paul, he eked out a split decision over 8-0-0 Steve Larrimore in Miami. Knowing all the problems with allergies my cousin has in Miami all year long, I wouldn't be surprised if similar allergic reactions hampered Cubanito against Larrimore. We're talking about compromised breathing here, one of the worst problems a boxer can have. Until his final match at 30, he was clearly best off in a hot, dry, desert climate.

Eddie Booker, wins over Holman and Archie Moore, then retired with eye trouble.

Marcel retiring at the age of 25 after beating Arguello - wonder if Arguello caused him some damage

Harry Simon, beat Winky Wright, then got prison time for causing a death with his car

Marcel publicly promised before that fight that he was going to retire afterward, win or lose. Unlike countless others in history, he actually kept his word. Alexis took such a beating in the seventh round that the referee actually went to his corner afterward, and asked him if he wanted to continue.

"Arguello has a strong punch and is a good boxer. Someday he will be champion."-Ernesto Marcel.

After hours of exhaustive internet research I've found the man I was talking about.

    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=24371&cat=boxer

Judging by the quality of opposition he wasn't really a prospect as such but I'd be interested if anyone remembers anything about him, particularly the story behind his WTC heroics.

    Anyone?
