Here is a press release that makes me laugh. A fighter, and a top notched one in fact, cant get in touch with his promoter and uses the media as an outlet to get a fight. This is a serious problem and one that shows the mery a fighter is at when he signs with a promoter. Boxing needs a central commision. Julio Diaz ready to return! After just one fight in 14 months, former two-time IBF lightweight champion Julio "The Kidd" Diaz (34-3, 25 KOs) is anxious to get back in the ring. "I was scheduled to fight in Dubai in April but unfortunatley the show was cancelled. That's boxing and these things happen," Julio told Fightnews.com. Since then, however, Julio says his phone hasn't been ringing. "I'm disappointed that I have not heard from my promoter in recent weeks. I keep calling and am not getting any responses. I'm very surprised because Sycuan is responsible for getting me to the top and becoming a two-time world champion. It doesn't matter how good of a fighter you are. You must be active or your performance will suffer and from a business standpoint that's not going to financially benefit the fighter or the promoter. I've been training hard to make sure I don't blow up in weight. I'm still one of the top lightweights in world and want it to be known that I am physically able to fight immediately. I'm not trying to be disrespectful but at this point I don't know what else to do. All I'm asking is that Sycuan please call me and let me know if there is a fight on the table for me or something is in the works." Tuesday, April 8 2008
