PROMOTER Lou DiBella says the credit crunch prohibits a fight between Carl Froch and Jermain Taylor.
Froch's promoter, Mick Hennessy, has offered Taylor $1.6m to fight for the WBC super-middleweight title.
But DiBella says it isn't going to happen.
"It's not happening because Carl's not a good fighter," said DiBella. "It's because he is not a big name in the US.
"If the fight doesn't happen it's because of money. Jermain's in his 30s and we want to maximise his earning power. How do you make a deal when you can make a lot more money for a non-title fight?

"Whoever believes this is about winning belts is an idiot. It's about making money.

"I know what it is like in the UK economically. There is a limited amount of money from ITV and from the venue, because the only place Carl generates big bucks is Nottingham."
DiBella, who has a March date on Showtime, had hoped to match Taylor with Froch victim Jean Pascal. But Pascal pulled out this week. Taylor could now fight stable-mate Allan Green on March 28, while Froch is unlikely to box until April.
Out of the top ten only Andre Dirrell (No.2), Marcus Johnson (No.4), Sakio Bika (No.6), Alejandro Berrio (No.8) and Rob Stieglitz (No.9) are readily available.
Andrew Ward (No.3) fights Henry Buchanan on Shobox on February 6 and is then being lined up for a fight with Glen Johnson at 170lbs.
Anthony Mundine (No.7) takes on middleweight Shanon Taylor on February 11, while Fulgencio Zuniga (No.10) meets IBF champion Lucian Bute on March 13.
Froch has been offered Mads Larsen – who has been beaten only twice in 53 fights. But the former WBF and IBO champion, now 35 and based in Germany, is only ranked No.12 by the WBC.

    Refused $1.6M?

Taylor is an absolute joke. It's an incredibly winnable fight for him for excellent money and the WBC world title. But it looks like DiBella and Taylor are looking for other Lacys (i.e. Allan Green, Tito etc.).

    What a joke that is.

Talyor is ducking Froch at any given opportunity. The credit crunch is the worst excuse yet. I'm no fan of Froch and at first nothing would have given me more pleasure than to see Taylor dump Froch on the seat of his pants. Now, I hope Froch gives him a hiding, but Taylor and Arum are doing everything in his power to stop that from happening.

Why don't you rematch Jeff Lacy or something.

I still believe that Taylor is wanting that one last big payday with Joe Calzaghe and this just gives more strength to my case. In Taylors' defense why take on someone dangerous like Froch when he can get quite a bit more money and a lot more praise and fame if he can upset Joe.

Has Jermaine Taylor turned into a complete ***** or something?

He won't fight Froch, he won't fight Kessler, who exactly will he fight? :huh

Since Larsen-Kessler seems to be off, why won't he just figh Kessler? Oh, wait, the Ring says he'll lose so that's out... *Sigh*

No way in hell JoeC fights Taylor at this point. That fight only made sense before Taylor lost to Pavlik.
How much would Taylor have made fighting Pascal in America on showtime?
Surely showitme would rather show a fight with the champion that defeated Pascal?
I'm a bit gutted, Froch was really pushing for this fight and openly calling Taylor out. I was really looking forward to a big test for Carl

I think it would be a great fight between Froch and Taylor but Taylor and DiBella don't want to risk him losing and being called finished. If he gets the fight with Joe and loses he will still walk away with dignity. I'll put it this way if Taylor loses to Joe Calzaghe he won't be damned but if he loses to Froch or Bute or even Kessler he will be damned by the boxing public and so called experts.

green said the exact same thing with regards fighting bute in canada when he was offerded the ibf fight.

so it is no surprise when green and taylor end up fighting each other as they have no other options.
all 4 ABC`S are held outside america and they must be waiting for a direll or ward to take a chance and leave homecooking , so if they win and bring back a belt , taylor or green can fight one of them for the belt in america.

That's exactly what's happening, if there was ever a case of someone being a 'Stay At Home Joe' then this is it. All the belts are outside of the USA, Taylor presumably wants to become a World Champion yet he seems more than reluctant to go and actively chase the guys who have the belts.

All the criticism flung at Calzaghe, Kessler, Abraham etc can now justifiably be aimed at Jermain Taylor.

I agree that Taylor would like a fight with Joe but there is just no chance of that happening. If Taylor had beaten Kessler then it would be a possiblity, He could beat anyone else and 168 and Joe would still have no interest.

:good And then some! Dont forget that that the Above mentioned are champions and therefor has a degree of right to stay at home. Being a stay at home challenger is a bit of a joke in my eyes

Change his name from this day forth to

    Jermaine
    This content is protected
    Taylor

He has no intention of fighting froch or kessler or anyone who has the remote chance of giving him a fight, or has chance of beating him.

I had to laugh, when i saw they try to make a match with pascal who froch already beat.

Also where else is he going to earn $1.6 mill and have the chance to pick up a strap at the same point (plus its the green and gold).

He and his team are gutless wankers :rofl
