Di-Bella said Jermain generates money if he fights 'Bozo the Clown'...so why should he go to hostile ground to fight when he can make easy money in the US.....
So what if it is, in the world of Dibella and Taylor. Does that make it right? Should it be encouraged? Does that improve your experience as a spectator of the sport? Does it help the game? The answer to all these questions is no unless you are taking a slice of the pie your self. Poor match making like this should be ridiculed, it's killing the sport, not encouraged.
i'm tired of hearing this tripe from ignorant fans. do any of you really believe that a fighter who has taken more chances against much better opponents should be judged over a fighter who should really be doing the work to make a fight like this happen? stop talking bull**** if you dont understand boxing. '
its more about fighters outside of america having the balls to make big fights happen. pacman did it, mexicans do it. so do puerto ricans - so you tell me why brits who are talented but getting milked by their hometown promoters dont really get these fights. it's childish for anyone to say - out of pure ignorance - that their hometown fighter is getting a raw deal simply because they won't go over seas and test themselves.
so is a kessler fan judging people over the net. instead of buttering up to his post why don't you give an opinion so you can be judged on it?
No money. No boxing. I'm still waiting for someone to say why it was OK for Calzaghe to call out Pavlik and then duck him for RJJ. Everyone here said it was justified because of, now wait for this, This content is protected . Now Taylor HAS to fright little Froggy because THEY think it is good for the sport? Why should I have to fight this fight both ways with the Europeans on this board? Shouldn't the same rules apply. I'm still waiting for that answer.:deal
Is this true? The Ryder cup seems to spark HUGE interest here. US vs Europe. The more I think about this the more I wonder.
hatton still didn't get big fights after he beat tszyu - he had to leave warren to chase his dream fight and he knew it. if hatton never lerft warren he'd be another witter or calzaghe crying about why nobody wanted to fight him - but he had the balls to say "screw the payday" (something joe couldn't do), and thats why he got a fight with floyd while joe was still complaining about jones and hopkins "not wanting to fight him" when it mattered. its all about what makes business sense and its small minded to lump fighters in one category based on nationality because - people make their own luck. do you think pacman would have been a player if he stayed in the phillipines? or do you think he "had the right ethnicity and background?". thats small minded, bordering on racist bull****. it's not 'fate'. fighters make their own luck.
Well, I hope you see my point. I had to battle the people using money as justification for that, now the shoe is reversed. Cal was 'gambling' bigger numbers with Jones. I read somewhere he actually did about one mill less in the end fighting Jones too. Taylor hasn't released what he is making from Showtime, but from recent fights, my guess is he would be getting around $2.5 mill again. Even as a percentage that is a HUGE difference from $1.6.
