The promoters plan the fights for the most revenue to them . The fighters just do what they are told.

Not always. Haymon gives his guys a list of available opponents and they pick from that. If the other man agrees to the fight then it's set up, if not he has to choose some one else.
Top Rank does exactly as you mentioned before. Even Goossen Promotions and Main Events give their guys some choice over opponents.

As long as you say "it's up to my promoter", you could fight Ronald McDonald and get away with it.

Not completely true at all. Especially if it is a high level name fighter. It's BS to suggest they have no input.

    Rod Salka.

Harmon and team Garcia thought Herrera was a gimme....It backfired....so Salka was the gimme.

There is no way Garcia had any say in that one

Nope. Only the fighters that allow themselves to be told what to do are used as the pawns they are.

Other fighters, like Vargas, Canelo, Hopkins, Hoya, often make the fights they want to make.

Canelo was being told by his entire team and promotional company not to fight Lara, but pursued the fight anyways. Like a man. Hopkins had every excuse in the book not to fight Kovalev, but jumped through the hoops needed to make the fight happen.

Ya'll just used to fighters hiding behind their teams and then you justify it.
