From a British/World standpoint Kell Brook has criminally underachieved in his career. Technically sound, good puncher he should of been a household name but Hearn continuously overlooked him bar the GGG and Spence fights.
Top Rank could have done a lot better with Donaire (though they did fantastic 2011-12). Asian greats in the lower divisions like Pongsaklek Wonjongkam probably should have gotten a couple bigger paydays though the economics in those divisions aren't there overseas so perhaps they made more by not (he's just so damn good it's hard to think it wouldn't have been worth it). Beterbiev seems like a staple in this discussion nowadays. Andre Ward wasn't handled too well, should have been much bigger with what he had going for him. Then again, he got fat paychecks with low-ish viewership numbers so maybe that was the cap... Matchmaking could have changed their whole career for the worse so it is tough to say. General activity/inactivity and exposure are what to look for.
Speaking of 50cent; he also hampered the careers of Gamboa and Kirkland, if I am not mistaken. SMS also signed Billy Dib , who then immediately lost his 126lb IBF belt to Gradovich.
Yep. Zab Judah said he signed with them too, but it was just verbal and he ended up not. Which was a good thing.
I wonder if Floyd had anything to do with him getting blackballed. Boxing world wouldn't let Curtis in, what a shame athletes trusted a hiphop rapper with a claim to being shot several hundred times to promote their careers.
Nah, I remember it being pretty much 50cents own fault. He had his thing with Floyd and couldn´t work with him, which meant GBP was out of the window as well. But Arum was more than happy to work with him. Yet SMS still sunk. They just had no idea as to wtf they were doing. Signed big name boxers without having promoted a single event, meaning no structure. Nothing to build upon.
