I'm looking at organizing my first white collar boxing event in the near future. I'd like some advice on the matter from anyone who may have expierience in the field.
Look at IBC Boxing on Facebook. I think Derry has a share in it. The lad who runs it is top class and is always happy to meet and give advice. Lee Monaghan I think it is. The shows in Liverpool are great.
Really popular round our way west yorks and there's a gym in my town for unlicensed lads if your more specific on what you want to know il ask lad who runs it for you
Thanks for the advice lads I will look into what you have told me. I have boxed once in the white collar game myself and 8 times as an amateur as well but I have never organised my own show. I think I should be able to get hold of people to hire the ring, I'm going to speak to a venue I know which has an alcohol licence and does not charge people for holding boxing events as long as the organizer pays for the door staff on the night etc. I know a lot of fighters as well. The thing is any amount of unforeseeable issues could arise that someone with expierience will know about so I really appreciate all of the advice.
Good luck with your show. Certainly helps if you know some fighters also look into getting a few novice fighters on the show maybe ask around any local companies that have a large amount of employees. Will be well supported & may get even some sponsorship out of it the real novice side people in London often use it to raise money for local causes probably the same nationwide. They also spend well on the night & at ANY level the first time someone fights they always get well supported! Sure as you have boxed yourself aware the safety side will cost a fair bit so make sure you cover yourself that side.
Yeah I know somebody else who has done this with the beginners and it does sell. What I am looking to try and hopefully do is have a show full of local ticket sellers vs. other local ticket sellers in as many bouts as possible. This should let me just give the fighters a ticket deal which will let all of them earn a bit and I won't have to run the risk of making a loss on any of the fights either.
good luck ,but dont cut corners on safety make sure you have the appropriate and qualified doctors and paramedics
Have a look at White Collar Boxing London - a friend of mine Scott runs that and they put on very professional shows. He'd be a good person to drop an email for some advice.
