You can't blame Degale and Co for going pro when they would virtually dissappear from our screens and the nations memories due to the appalling coverage Amataur boxing receives.

Imagine if for an experiment a top promotor was contracted to put on a show - The finals. Pack out the 02 Arena with lots of cheap and freebie tickets, have former ABA Champs Bruno etc involved in the hospitality and then put it on ITV Live on a Wednesday (a non football night) at 8.00pm to 10, straight after coronation street.

Market the event like the X Factor finals with build up shows running up to the event getting used to the fighters, their ambitions and the rivalries. It should be an advertisers dream

This could be a massive boost in the arm for the sport

Its a great idea mate but the ABA have little idea on how to market their 'product'. The ABA's is often a fascinating competition and if someone like channel M or Setanta were to cover it properly, it would be brilliant. Amateur boxing is going a little bit camp though and it all seems to be about hand and foot speed, thus there are hardly ever any stoppages.

mate i think your a genius. why didn't the seriously well paid team at ITV sport think of this first. i bet they had trouble getting the rights away from the BBC. and i bet the 02 are going out of there minds trying to in an event that didnt even sell out the york hall, i think your idea about giving away cheap and free tickets will have them jumping for hoy.

come on seriously mate, wake up, boxing is not a popular sport anymore, let alone amateur. your living in a dream world if you think ITV are going to give up there biggest advertising spot of the week for a pre recorded boxing show.

    BOXING IS AN ADVERTISERS NIGHTMARE.

Until they get rid of the point scoring system there would be no point an amatuer boxing nowadays is **** to watch, the York Hll is the perfect sized hall for the aba finals.

Amatuer boxing used to reflect pro boxing, it doesnt anymore and has ruined the game.
