Im not speculating on who Canelo is fighting, Im just saying announce it ALREADY GBP.

Yes although he did have one 10 week training camp recently for some reason I cant remember which is it. But he hasn't started camp yet but you can bet he is in shape.

You are 100% right. I've just always been impressed with the condition Mayweather keeps year round. I'll criticize him for other things, but never that.

To be fair both of you are right, although I have not heard of anyone in recent times having a 6 week camp I think Mike Tyson was the last that I remember anyway - maybe you can enlighten me.

Marquez I believe currently has a 12 week camp. I also think Hatton used to have 12 week camp too but that was for obvious reasons.

Mayweather will probably have his standard 8 week camp.

I was trying to remember. It was a surprisingly big name fighter entering a big fight with plenty of prep time and he kept talking about his 6 week camp. I was puzzled myself...

Obviously, lesser fighters who can't finance an extended camp won't have a full 8+ week training camp.

Also, we could get technical with the difference of "being in training" and "being in training camp." Training camp involves a whole team of trainer, conditioning coach, nutritionist, sparring partners, etc. as well as often times being off-site whereas being in training means going to the gym, being in shape, etc.

But doesn't that throw your claim out the window about elite only doing "8 weeks"

6-10 weeks is more typical. But fighters back in the day generally had longer camps. At least certain fighters did. Marciano started camp after the Christmas Holidays for a fight against Charles in June! That's a 6 month camp! Needless to say, Marciano started his slowest, dropping the first 5-6 rounds and clean-sweeping the rest of the fight. Marciano later stated he felt he had to "fight his way back in shape" during the fight and that he felt a little off and rusty because of such a long and grueling camp.

My claim was that 8 week camps happen far more often than 12 week camps. That is all.

Might be I cant think of anyone in recent times though I even remember Tyson having a 5 week camp too lol! You certainly have to be fight more than once a year to have a 6 week camp but its definitely not impossible.

I think 8 week camp is about right anymore and you are likely to injure yourself or lose interest.

The good thing about Floyd is he is always training and always in shape, so he has less to do than say Canelo would as he wont have to worry about his weight. Infact most camps I believe he has to be told to scale back his running so he maintains weight.

That's true, but in one of your posts you made is seem like anything more than 8weeks never occurs

    shut the **** up?

how about you shut the **** up show everyone here where a "bunch of esb ban bets have taken place and no one keeps their word."

    http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=458170&page=3

i dont need a "bunch." just one. or are you just talking out of your ass like when you said that no one cares about being a champion or fighting for titles.
    http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=458170&page=3

and if you knew anything about the fight game your "camp" of three months does not include just training. you need to properly secure your trainer, nutritionist and strength coach and sparring partners. thats why a fighter needs three months to prepare, especially for a championship fight.

I just re-read my post and I did use the word "always," but clearly by the rest of my post(s) I am not speaking 100% literally. In my question, I even ask what is more frequent, and the time block I use is 6-10 or 12+. So that right there should tell you I was not speaking literally, otherwise I would have wrote 6-8.
