He could have easily went down anytime from round 3 and took the same money without a beating. He was landing big shots himself during the fight, kept trying to find a way to win and was simply beaten up by a better fighter. Great respect for him even though he is nowhere near my favourite fighter.
He gave it his all, but I don't think he was very good or entertaining. All it proved to me was that he doesn't really belong in the ring with a skilled operator. Okolie, who walks around three stone over the cruiserweight limit, would've also had him beat had he not been totally shot at the weight.
Hello mate, that figure was just a hunch I had. I have no idea what he was actually paid, but even though Saudi purses have dropped since last Octobers first RS show I expect him to have earnt around that.
Around half of your hunch is what I heard from a good source. Some sizeable deductions to take into account too !
He certainly would have earned more for fighting Opetaia, but he would have needed to for the beatdown he would have suffered imo. I'd say Boxxer have done a pretty good job and he's probably been over promoted if anything, after all Boxxer were desperate to have a star headliner for Sky to push and pumped a lot of money in to making him that. He had the heart of a lion at the weekend but generally I think he's pretty dull in and out of the ring so has done pretty well for himself and good luck to him.
How much is Barry McGuigan getting for going on I'm a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here? I watched a Shane McGuigan video and he was asked about it. I remember when he won Hell's Kitchen under Marco Pierre White years ago.
Bizarre thread. There's plenty to attack Boxxer on, but this isn't it - they've done a really good job with CBS. CBS has over achieved - he reminds me of a Steve Collins. Not overly talented or gifted in any area, but he's extremely tough, determined and the type to maximise everything he has. He's also banked some good money along the way which is excellent. Its a good story, hope he doesn't go on much longer as that's alot of damage he's taking in almost every fight.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. He's done pretty well for himself and has the potential to make some decent money going forward, even if he doesn't fight Opetaia. It was a good fight and CBS shows he has a big pair of cojones but he showed his limitations like in the fight versus the Polish dude. Zurdo was impressive and I'll definitely catch the fight versus Opetaia.
Well said. CBS was game but outclassed. Nothing wrong with his heart, but he doesn't really belong at world level. Maybe he can have one last hurrah against one of the other British cruisers. Then look back on a career which has seen him comfortably out perform expectations.
