Yeah, everyone ducked Calzaghe, just like when Roy Jones refused to move down in weight and travel to fight Joe for 15 grand at Cardiff Ice Rink.

I haven't seen the clip but I remember it all happening. Carl had been calling Calzaghe out forever, got offered the fight, turned it down.

"I'd like to fight Calzaghe, probably next year after a couple of fights for the British title," said Froch.

"That would be an outrageous win because Calzaghe's a good fighter, a very strong fighter, he's been around a few years, and I just feel I've got exactly what you need to beat him." - Carl Froch at 13-0

At this point, Carl Froch wasn't even the British SMW champion.

After these words where Calzaghe dismissed Carl Froch, Calzaghe went on to fight:-

"Then when Ashira walked out I almost choked on my cocoa. I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't Baby Jake Matlala.

"I have come to expect Joe to pick on easy targets,"

I believe Calzaghe knows that isn't that hard a job.

"Why doesn't Joe get bold and call me out? Like I said before, perhaps he knows what I do: that I will smoke his boots, I will end his career.

"I know what to do to beat Calzaghe,.......I don't think Calzaghe will fight me unless I put a meaningful title on the line but if I get one of the major belts he could not swerve me. - Carl Froch

WBO rankings at this point stood like:-

    Champ: Joe Calzaghe
    1. Dennis Inkin
    2. Lucian Bute
    3. Carl Froch

Calzaghe never fought any of the three closest ranked fighters.

"Joe says he's looking to make the most money possible from his next fight,........ Given the options open to him, that must mean fighting me. It certainly wouldn't mean someone like Inkin. - Carl Froch.

All of these histories of the Calzaghe - Froch saga are biastly compiled in Froch's favour. He made a lot of noise but turned the fight down.

There are several interviews with ******, Froch, Hennessy and Calzaghe regarding this. They are hard to find now though. Fact is that article is enough as it has quotes from Hennessy and ****** who were the two money men. The fight was offered and knocked back, simple as that.

Even after Calzaghe moved up to light heavy Froch was saying the fight would have to be at a catch weight.

Im going to replace the word "Calzaghe" in your post with "Froch", and the word "Froch" in your post with "Groves", and replace "lineal" with the word "IBF". Proceed:-

    -------------------------

Forget your link festooned copy & paste bayeux tapestry!

Are you honestly suggesting Froch who beat WBA/WBC SMW champion Kessler (who was 39-0 at the time) ducked Groves

He could have fought non-title holder Groves following Kessler after unifying the SMW division sure, but why?

What was the point of that fight at 36 years old? Groves THEN had nothing to offer the ageing champion and after beating Kessler do you really think he needed to prove himself against Groves?

He could also fight Hopkins for the IBF LHW belt or Groves who was still pretty much european level! It's not hard to do the math!
    ---------------------------

You see, Froch fights the young hungry British lion, the Hopkins fight was there for him also, and for a real LHW title not the one that Calzaghe won.

how does featherfist joe beat up a granite jawed guy? No chance. What you mean is he would be ahead on points.

you should believe the facts, not what you want to believe.

thjis bit is believable, since it would fit in well with nearly everyone of Joe Cals' defences.

but when Froch started winning titles, Joe said he wasn't good enough. He obviously meant froch wasn't bad enough anymore.

You get the chance to fight the #1 ranked LHW and #4 P4P Bernard Hopkins and make a packet in the U.S.A but instead you decide to fight the nobody Carl Froch :think

In your own borked reality maybe.

What a sack of **** that is.I remember listening to bbc radio 5.They were interviewing the two and Froch when he had won a world title said he wanted that fight, saying it to Calzaghe but Calzaghe chuckled a bit and said his retirement and his kids were more important to him than a comeback.Don`t believe that stupid newspaper.

LOL, your "proof" is weak as a Calzaghe jab.
Calzaghe has a long repetition of ducking, while Froch has the rep of facing all opponents.
Skill-wise, I have Froch and Calzaghe about even. Heart-wise, I have Froch having 2 times the heart of Calzaghe.

This topic has already been posted around 10,000 times on the site. Following numerous polls and posts, it is no doubt that Calzaghe and FW are the greatest boxing hypes in modern boxing history. Calzaghe could have erased all doubt about his fight with Hopkins with a rematch that all of the boxing world would have liked to see. But ducking is in Calzaghe's nature, so Hopkins forced him into retirement. :yep
Not only Hopkins, but Joe ( and FW) were afraid to face Pavlik and the other young contenders who were more than the dishwashers he was accustomed to facing in Whales.
