He claimed in a recent interview that he will go back to his original weight range for future bouts. Sent from my SM-G925W8 using Tapatalk
He's definitely not a glass jawed fighter. But many people, myself included, ranted over his punch resistance as a deficiency bc some of us were still ****ed that Valuev was given the WBA title which was rightfully Chagaevs and through Ko4 , Wlads, Haye had no standing in our opinions to be given a title fight without going through K2. That said, I'm over it. Most of the HAYTERS are over it, and only the anti brit brigade still holds his chin over his skills. Hayes a top 10 HW, maybe top 5. He could easily still become the #1 HW if he moved quickly.
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=20d_1349178623 This is actually comical. Legit knockout. Also https://youtu.be/6oq4SqhpSd8?t=1725 . I'm sure others can find other videos, that chin is not too sturdy.
he ran in fear froma 40 year old man who knocked him out with ease. He makes the Klitschko reign look like the seconds coming of Muhammad Ali.
He was gassed in this fight. He got up from the knock down. He didn't have the stamina to continue. Sent from my SM-G925W8 using Tapatalk
Imo that was an important learning experience for him. He realized that he had to pace himself better with his punches Sent from my SM-G925W8 using Tapatalk
Crazy how overrated Haye gets, even from normally decent posters like this guy. He hasn't beaten anyone in approximately 4 years. He's a smaller HW relying on speed and power, and at 35 and after shoulder surgery and a 15lb weight gain, we don't know how either one is now against top level opponents, but there is plenty of reason to be doubtful. I have him in the top 20, no real problem with him in top 15 but top 10 is going blindly by past performance and absolutely no reason to think he could hang with the best of the best, like Fury etc. As far as his chin goes, its not bad, maybe even above average. He just got tagged with the rep at a formative point in his career and nothing he could do after that could change peoples opinions. A lot like Wlad in that respect.
IMO it was an important learning experience too. He learned that he had to run from 40 year old men who could box a bit, for fearing of getting easily pasted out again. There was a time when running from getting killed by a 40 year old would be the kiss of death for a boxer's career. How times have changed when mediocrity is accepted or even ignored routinely such that one can causally ignore the facts in front of them - that fact being that haye gibberingly cowardzaghily ran from a 40 year old man.
DeMori is a solid fringe contender, similar to Kaufman or current Arreola or Molina. Gjerjaj is BETTER THAN Wawzryk, and quite likely, would annihilate Dimitrenko. Fact is, they made reasonable purse demands in regards to their names. Briggs is liable to demand 300/400k, and while he was worth that much for a title challenge vs Klitschko, He's been chasing a check for a couple yrs now. Haye has obliged him, and while it doesn't enhance his legacy, it gives him a solid 3 fight foundation for this comeback, and should pit him squarely in the top 10.
Agree to disagree. I don't have Demori anywhere near Kaufman, shot Arreola, or Molina. His lack of decent wins and presence of bad losses prove that to my satisfaction. Garbage is more arguable, he wasn't "exposed" before Haye, but never beat anyone either. If he had fought and beat Dimitrenko, which I'm doubtful of his ability to do, then maybe I could accept beating him to be enough of an achievement to allow Haye into top 10, but he didn't, never proved himself against anyone half decent.
